I feel lost in deciding when to put my "rvsp by____" time! I think its important with a destination wedding that you need a lil more of a notice than with typical weddings.

Even with sending out the invites! I'd rather send them out 7 mths prior than 4 months prior!

So, my question is, how many months prior are you having your guests rsvp?

i'm such a paranoid person so people already have an idea when i'm getting married...and I don't even have my resort or date confirmed yet. but i'm gonna be asking people to reserv by April which is about 10 months before..so they will have more than enough time to save and schedule those payment plans early. I want no excuses!!!

I sent out our STD's about 11 months in advance. The STD had our wedding website info, which contained all the travel info so guests could start booking well in advance. However I didn't send out the actual invites until the beginning of January (about 4 months in advance) with an RSVP date of Feb 14th. I figured that gives me about 2 and a half months for things like the reception, OOT bags, etc. In retrospect, I wish I would have sent them out a little sooner, but not too much.

My wedding is early June. I sent the Save the Dates in October, and the Invites in January and asked people to RSVP by March 1st. That gives me about 3 months to settle everything based on numbers. I found that most people really can't know for sure whether they can come too far in advance.

Wow, these timelines seem early to me! I don't know why, I figured send the invites out like 2 months before and have the RSVPs due a month before. Is that more for traditional weddings, or did I totally pull that out of thin air?? Here I am thinking I have plenty of time yet to get my invitations made, but I'm only 5.5 months away! eek.gif

All the typical weddings i've been invited to follows that time line.

I sent out my invites about 4 months before and are asking to RSVP by March 15, so that leaves me with 2 months to get everything else together. I have bought somethings and got a little extra but i can return those items. I have also heard some guest will change there mind and book after the RSVP. So if you think some might do that i would by some extra stuff.

We are getting married in May 2011 and I just put the Save-the-Dates in the mail today! For us and our family, it's not so much "save the date" as "save the case so you can come", haha. So we wanted to give people lots of notice.

As for the invites, we'll be getting group rates from our travel agent in May or June so we'll be sending the formal invitations with a letter explaining the travel info then. There will be a deadline to book by if people want the group rate (probably sometime in June or July). However, we're gonna put RSVP for Dec. 31, 2010...about 3 months before the wedding so we know exactly how many people to plan for the reception, etc.

We're getting married at the end of July (the 28th, not the 30th according to my ticker!). We're also having an AHR 3 weeks later. We sent our STDs before Christmas ... in November sometime. We'll be sending invites out around mid March and asking for the RSVP by May 1st. That gives people a couple months to really decide if they're coming (since they already know all the plans). It will also allow us enough time to order any items for OOT bags, etc.

I'm getting married June 9, 2010 and I am planning to send my invitations out the first week of March. (I sent out save the dates back in September). I was going to have my rsvp date May 1, but now I am thinking maybe it should be earlier! This has given me something to think about!
