I really think that we should measure our body to see if we're really losing weight because muscle does add up to the weight so if I lose 5 lbs and i do weight lifting and i gain all that lb back but my waist is smaller.

So I'm not sure how this contest works. Is it purely on loss of pounds? I do not need to lose any more weight (ok maybe 5-10 lbs), just tone up. Thoughts?

Im beginning to think that what I think is healthy...really isnt healthy. I could use some snack and lunch suggestions....preferably snacks that are filling.
Fiber is the magic word into being full. I read that you are supposed to consume 24-40 grams of fiber a day while dieting. You have to work up to it otherwise you will get all clogged up. I haven't managed to get over 24 g in a day and that's putting metaumucil in my water 3 times a day. It certainly helps stop the hunger pains though.

Lunch:
Subway 6 in. sub under 6 grams of fat and under 350 calories if you use the wheat bread, no mayo, oil or cheese
Salad w/ spinach, teriyaki chicken breast (from Costco), 1/2 avocado, and 7 grape tomatoes seasoned with lemon juice & pepper - 300 calories

Snacks:
I like the Kashi Almond & Honey Flax bars. 140 calories & 4 grams of fiber.
Apple slices or celery & peanut butter
Plain Greek Yogurt w/ berries

I am tracking my measurements in tandem to my weight (1 inch loss on my thigh, but no where else this week!). I'm also tracking my body fat percentage (according to my scale... not with one of those pinch the fat thingies) and H20 %, because my goal is to lose fat and look awesome and not to pop a diuretic so that my scale says I'm a different number.

I think that the reason why the contest runs purely on pounds is because it's hard to take a photograph of your own measurements every week. Plus, sometimes people accidentally miss the same spot that they were measuring before, which allows for WAY more room for error. It's a great idea to have a Biggest Loser - inches edition... I just think it's hard to do with people that you only know through the internet.

girls, this contest (like biggest loser on tv) is based on percentage of body weight lost. so yeah di i absolutely see your point ... chances are you are not going to be a winner here (technically), but your clothing is going to tell a different story (probably waaaay before mine shows a difference, even if i lose 4x the amount of weight you do). so stay in the game just for the comradery, the motivation, and the accountability! i promise it will help keep you on track!

like someone already said, it would be near impossible to keep track of inches lost for everyone via the internet, but we all should definitely be measuring ourselves ... it's a great way to track your progress and can help take away "the scale didn't move" blues!

cougs - why do you keep depreciating yourself sad.gif i think you are so fabulous...it's all about the mindset! you totally can do it (lose weight)...remember our bodies are different!

I am pulling out of this contest because I realized that i do not need to lose more than 15lbs...my motivation is to tone up. I still will keep doing the weight maintenance to make sure i don't fall off the wagon! I'm with you ladies the rest of the way but not in for the contest!
