Good luck, it's a pretty dress.
I totally know what you mean! The whole place was really overwhelming. It's like Home Depot for dresses... awesome prices if you know exactly what you want and where to find it on the rack, but really chaotic if you don't.

I went there with two of my bridesmaids and I had trouble finding a dress I liked right away. They have a limit of 7 dresses (which I totally understand when they're busy and other brides are waiting, but there weren't any). The "consultant" didn't help us find anything. I put on a dress, and before I could even say anything about it, she looked at me and said "No." I was OUTRAGED! It wasn't as if the dress made me look like a circus freak. What if I was in love with that dress? Who the heck is she to tell me what I should or shouldn't get for my wedding dress?

Anyway, after trying on 7 dresses that I didn't like, she told me that I was going to have to come back another day if I wanted to try on more. There wasn't anyone else waiting. I politely informed her that what she was really telling me is that I wasn't getting my dress there, because there was no way I was purchasing one of the dresses I didn't want but had already tried on. I wasn't going to drive back there from CT just to see if they might have something I want.

She finally agreed to let me try on a few more. I ended up finding one that I really like (Edimburgo by San Patrick which is a Pronovias line), and I will probably return to buy it... but from a different consultant!

Overall-- good selection and good prices if you can get past the Warehouse shopping aspect of it.

LeAnne, that's a very pretty dress, I like the one shoulder, very sexy.

I am glad you found the dress there, because like you said you can't beat the prices. But some of the ladies in there could use some communication and manners classes ;-)

Good luck to you.

I know, right? It was just SUCH a shocker, because every other bridal salon I've been to has kissed my butt like it was made of hot guy. And I don't really need someone to shower me with fake praise, but at least allow me to form my own opinion.

I actually already bought a dress ($190 Jessica McClintock on clearance!) and a TTD ($99 David's Bridal sale), but after going to do a site visit in April, I realized that I needed something a little lighter. Plus, my MOH hinted that she thought my Jessica McClintock wasn't Bride-y enough. But at least she didn't see it and say "No!"

Also, if you've seen Gaudi by Pronovias, it's pretty similar. They're having a trunk show this Sunday, and I'm wondering if they'll have that dress on sale. I think I wouldn't mind substituting Edimburgo for Gaudi if the price is right!

Sorry your consultant was not good...but glad that you found a dress that is a strong possibility. Definitely ask for a new consultant. They really do have a good selection.

I got an e-mail from the knot about it. It also included a discount off of the sample dresses and accessories.

Also...just an FYI...those of you still looking might want to go to the Macy's bridal salon. I am going to the one at the Herald Square store. They sell Demitrious dresses exclusively. I stopped in a week or so ago and they had a decent selection and some reasonable prices.

I tried Macy's and saw some nice dresses. I fell in love with a Demitrous dress but it cost $3000- way over my budget. But you should definately go see what they have. They have a range of dresses depending on your price range.

  • 5 weeks later...

I'm so excited to have found this thread!!! So far, I have been to: Pronovias, Designer Loft and The White Gown (Brooklyn).

While I love the Pronovias setting, I have to confess I was a little disappointed by the customer service - the girls seemed very uninterested in whether or not I found anything I liked. I am going to give them another try next week though. I REALLY like their dresses so I'm hoping they were having an off day.

Designer Loft was so odd! The dresses were all smashed up along the wracks and they were not well cared for at all! However, their prices ranged from $1,000 to well over $5,000 (not to mention that they were featured in My Fair Wedding). I really had high hopes for this place but won't be going back.

Finally, the White Gown (in DUMBO) was so cute! Nice, open spaces and the girl who helped me is also a seamstress so she was explaining to me the alterations that could be made on the dresses as I tried them on. That was so cool! I actually found a dress from Enzoani which may be "the one" but I am not committing until I try on a few others I have in mind b/c I just can't help myself. :)

Hi Girls!

I've been to Priscilla of Boston, Pronovias, Bridal Garden, RK Bridal, David's Bridal.

I'm from Stamford CT so I also visited a few places around CT also - Traci Romano, Purple Serpent, Marie's Bridal.

There are so many options!!!

My biggest concern is material. I fell in love with a Paloma silk gown which is so gorgeous and it makes me feel like a bride! But I did find a second one that is a Maggie Sottero gown but is satin. Do you guys think Satin would be too heavy for a wedding in Mexico in November?
