Honestly, I don't think I sent her stuff w/final details until a couple weeks out - so you have lots of time!

We are looking at booking June 12, 2010 so I need to start getting organized. The big thing I am stuck on is where to have everyone stay. It is important for us to find a place that is affordable to all of our guests rather than a place that is super fancy. I have been researching a number of hotels online but thought I would reach out to all of you to see if you have any recommendations. Dreams PV sounds like a popular spot but I am afraid it is a little pricey for some of our guests.

Also, my FI and I have never even been to PV (and I don't think we are going to do a site visit) so we are just going to make our decision off recommendations. Ok, here are few details about what we are looking for - let me know if any of you have any thoughts:

- Beachfront
- A larger resort that has multiple Restaurants/ Bars/ Activities
- All-inclusive (but a resort that offers an AI plan as well as a European plan would be fine)
- Swim-up bar would be fun but not necessary
- A resort that is good for kids as well as adults (I have noticed that some resorts offer a kids free option)
- A resort that is mid-range in price so it doesn't brake the bank of all our guests
- Location doesn't really matter but one near the marina would be a plus so transportation on the wedding day is easy
- Either Puerto Vallarta or Nuevo Vallarta is fine but I do think it would be fun to have our guests stay closer to PV for certain activities

Sorry for the LONG introduction email...but I want to get this organized so we can get our invites out. We aren't giving people much time to plan for this (just over 5 months) and we are anticipating 80-100 guests!

One final thing, are there any June brides out there? I am a little nervous about the weather but this is the date we have to go with.

Thanks in advance and Cheers!
I could have written this post a couple years ago! We booked in Nov or Dec 2006 and got married in June 2007. And your list of things sounds about what we were looking for - we ended up at Dreams. I was a little worried about the price as well, but don't forget that if they don't spend the $$ on an AI they're going to have to pay to eat out all of the time, which adds up. And if they're drinkers, of course there's that cost as well.

It was great to have all of our family stay at the one resort. I was so excited for the idea of a DW for the obvious reasons (getting married on a beach!) but what I hadn't realized was what a great opportunity this was for our close family and friends to get to know eachother. So I really do encourage them to all stay at teh same place (I know it's not always possible).

Everyone was shocked at the quality of food at Dreams as well. Many people, including us, had never stayed at an AI before, and I wasn't expecting much from the food. It surprised me!

I can't compare it to anywhere else though, but Dreams is a pretty good deal for all that you get - and it's a great place for adults and families (we had both); it's a nice mix of relaxing getaway and family-friendly hotel feel.

Oh, and as for the June thing - I was nervous as well, but for no reason! Sure, it might rain but it never seems to be much of a rain even when it does. I know that in the "old" LC thread we posted rain options should it rain on your wedding day, but they may have changed. I'd suggest just asking what the options are if it does rain, and that should put your mind at ease. I think they move it under the covered area if you want. But again, knowing PV, you could probably just wait it out for 20 minutes and it would be gone!

Welcome aussie! You will absolutely love PV! Ive traveled a lot and PV is my favorite destination in the world! honestly I would not stay at an all inclusive in PV due to the abundance of fabulous restaurtants there. I stayed at the fiesta americana and it was awesome. it had a swim up bar, nice beach, beautiful rooms. the food at the resort is not that great and iIMO too pricey but its only a five minute cab ride into downtown where all the action is. It has a semi all inclusive option that included wine in the afternoon and hors dourvers but not a full all inclusive..

If you set on an AI option, buenventura is a popular choice and the golden crown and they are a fraction of the cost of dreams..Good luck and congratulations!

I second everything Ann said. Having all of our guests at Dreams was AWESOME! It turned out to be the perfect place for our guests. Plus it wasn't right in town so our guests stayed on property and really got to know each other. We had such a fun time at Dreams!

I have a couple of question about the boat ride. How long of a boat ride is it to Las Caletas and how rough is the water? I just found out that a couple of people get motion sickness and we are worried about the boat ride. Does anyone know of any remedies that can calm them down during the ride over. Thanks. sick.gif

depends on how fast the boat ride is, when I went to LC the morning of the wedding we took the sort of sceanic route and it was probably closer to an hour. the waters were nice and calm. when our guests went to over to LC from what I have heard the ride was shorter, about 40-45 mins and they were hauling it! (some of our guests were late to the dock) the boat ride was VERY bumpy i am so glad that nobody got sick but they were all very wind blown and couldn't even enjoy a drink on the boat because it would just spill.

i would give all your guests dramimine and suggest that if they are worried/are know to have motion sickness that they take it. i provided all my guests with some but honestly i am not sure how many actually used it.

one week after our wedding we went over to the Rhythms of the night show and then the ride was very smooth. I guess it just depends on the tide and how fast the boat is actually going.

ok, I am so confused! I had my heart on Paulina Ulloa for my photographer..The problem is I was only going to book her for 2-3 hours. From what Kelley told me she would have to come over all day-we are doing the barefoot so we are coming over with the morning day trippers at 9 am and staying until the rhythms of the night crowd leaves at 11 pm. with the ceremony at 5 30.Paulina knew we were going to be at LC and I was only interested in booking her for 3 hours or so..Those of you who used outside photographers did they stay with you all day or is there a water taxi that will bring them when we need them and take them back?

I would ask Kelly specifically...our photogs did come over via water taxi around 11:30 in the morning, I had gone over with the morning tour around 9. so i know that the water taxi route might be a possibility...I just dont know if they can get a taxi back after just 3 hours? our photogs stayed then all day...from 11:30 in the morning until our entire group went back at 11pm, we counted them as guests so that they could have a meal.

also IMO I am not sure if having the photog be there for only 3 hours would be enough time? ours took a lot of pics around LC and just our ceremony/formals alone probably totaled close to 2 hours of time.

Thanks Andi, I would love to book her for more time but I dont think I can afford it sad.gif I want to do a TTD also so I have to take that cost into consideration..by the time she does the ceremony and formals it would be getting dark soon anyway. I thought I could get my mom to get some pics of the first dance etc. Or I could completely forget the idea of doing a TTD and hire her for more time but I really really want a TTD.

My other alternative is to hire the LC photogs for the ceremony and hire her the next day for the TTD. This is probably what Ill have to do.

I've cleaned up the first post (of the links to reviews and pics). But we really don't have that many in there, so if you want your added, PLEASE PM ME!! I try to check this thread regularly but I'd rather you send me a PM. Please include the link to anything you'd want in the first post ... the link to your review, your wedding pics, etc. Thanks!
