Not to laugh at your pain, but I'm cracking up over here at the fact that a kid stabbed you in the foot with a fork!!! I guess that one got away from the watchful eye of the parents. Holy mother!! I get both sides of this issue, even though both sides got a little raw on this issue - damn! And I must stick up for the person whose choices were called sad, different isn't sad, it's just different from what you would do.

We had 2 kids - our niece & nephew. Our other guests with kids left them home, we didn't have to ask them to either. They wanted a vacation without responsibility. If they had stayed home to be with their kids, good for them. Less people to feed & the day is about 2 people, the guests are a bonus. I wouldn't be sad. Children can bring an immense amount of joy to any occasion, but I've also seen some ruin the harmony of an otherwise pleasant function. Know your guests, how they handle their kids, and make the choice that is right for you!

Well said Jamy~

I think this thread was taking a turn for the better though, clown bashing, much better then friend judging, and remember girls we are all friends here, supporting each other in ALL of our choices grouphug.gif

Yeah it probably was. Didn't want to recreate the beef, I was just late to this and wanted to give my opinion since 8 pages of other people did.

And if any of you plan to throw me a party, I'm not a fan of clowns either smile120.gif

My DH & I have been invited to many "adult only" receptions. Now that our son is older, I don't mind leaving him quite as much, but when he was younger I'd just pass on the invite when I didn't feel comfortable leaving him with a babysitter. People should understand - it's just a decision that they have to make.
