I see alot of threads about when to send STD's and more formal invitations. For our wedding in Maui, we have a guy who we are going through to rent condos. This is the cheapest way to do it for our guests as there is no inclusive accomodations there. No biggy.

He says for our wedding next nov. 2008 he would need to know by march 2008 at the latest for everyone who is coming and to contact him so he can keep us all fairly close together (within 5 mins from each other if not right in the same complex). March is also when a deposit on the condo would be due.. with the remainder being paid in full 2 months before the wedding.

So would sending out STD's by end of october seem reasonable then? All the close family/friends that know about the date etc have already indicated that they are saving money (which is good).

Also, I have alot of info I would need to send including rates for 1 and 2 bedroom condos on the beach or across the street and car rentals. I'm not sure how I would fit all this info on the Maui postcard I wanted to send as the STD... ?

Knowing a bit of the timeline I've outlined here, when would you want to receive all this info? Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated! :)

i think oct. would be fine, and if you're concerned, send out a reminder email/note...

we printed out tri-fold brochures w/ our save the date cards and sent them all together...the brochure had info about the hotel, the town, a letter saying we want you there, and the words to our song (to take up space)...that way there wasn't too much info on our std cards AND i won't have to deal w/ 1000 phone calls w/ questions....i hope.....

Thanks Shelley.. I guess I should also state the obvious here.. our guests don't HAVE to go through this condo contact. They can completely arrange their own thing but I figure most will want to be around where we will be.. and the condo contact will be providing deals on the condos that are booked..

Yes, I quite like your brochure idea. Did you make that up yourself or get it professionally done? If it's not too difficult I would totally do this myself to save on some money..

I haven't built a wedding website yet, but I think it's a good idea. Some of my older relatives don't have computers/email so I would have to send out some kind of package to them anyways... Thanks for the good suggestions so far!!

I sent out my STDs about 11 months before the wedding. My STDs were magnets with just our names, date and location. I printed out inserts about the same size of the magnet that told guests to contact the TA by August 15, then she is dealing with everything else. Also, on the insert I put the address of our web page. I also included the TA's business card, so they would have all of her contact info. It seemed a little early to do it, but people appreciate it because they are planning a vacation and need to save money and know when they're going. It's getting a little nuts though...I sent out the STDs and within a week had 63 "yes" replies! It's still a month til the August 15 deadline...ah!
