the forum is built on existing forum software called vBulletin. Some forums that run this software really care about rep points. Like on slickdeals.net people really want a bunch of rep points. If someone posts something & you wonder if they are someone how usually does their research & posts good stuff, you can look over and see how many rep points they have. In a wedding forum, that just doesn't have the same need.

So the forum has more stuff than we don't really use. We had some fun exploring what all those features could be used for. You can rep someone & leave a note about what you liked about their post. Then they see it in the usercp. It seems like several things contribute to karma, but no one is really sure. All we know is the longer you've been around & the more active you've been, the more karma you have. There are probably forums where people look at the karma amount to decide if they trust someone.

I even went to the vbulletin forum & couldn't figure out exactly how karma works.

Do you mean the thread that is linked in my siggy? Pretty sure some of the links worked. Or if it was another one, please let the moderators know about it; if you've taken the time to read up on the forum, you may have come across this thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...n-links-50592/

You seem to have an awful lot of complaints about this FREE forum. You're welcome to leave anytime. Asking questions is fine, constant whining won't get you very far here.

Ann - I posted one note that I can't find information on what these things mean - in the section where I was supposed to make suggestions/ask general questions about the form. I don't know how that comes across as constant complaining or whining. The post I found with the broken links was the 'welcome to the bdw forum' and the links were already tagged as needing updating.

Perhaps I read into your posts. But as a member of the team that works really hard (for free, and on her own free time) to keep this forum running as best we can and to make it an enjoyable place for everyone, I don't enjoy having to justify and re-explain things to people who don't seem happy with how things work here.

I agree with Ann. I read the same passive aggressiveness to your posts. maybe it wasn't there. it's hard to tell with writting.
