Well don't forget there are 2 factors, there is spreading out the timing of the weddings (i.e. if somebody else is at 5pm and they don't want 2 weddings at the exact same time) but there is also the judge's availability.

Hi everyone: Just wanted to share a potential money-saver tip with you all.

I am having about 40 guests at DT in December. We are getting the silver package, and dessert is included. Though I want cake as well, I didn't want to pay for cake for 20 extra people (the first 20 is included in the Dreams package), because I know they all won't eat it (having just eaten dessert).

So I emailed Aurora and asked her if it'd be OK to not pay any extra for cake; and just get the original cake for 20 people included in the package. She said that was OK.

The savings aren't that huge (about $100) but it is something, and more importantly, all that extra food won't go to waste.

Opps, it's actually Dec. 2010 - should have clarified in my post.

Like you, I am planning WAY ahead...I already have ideas of most everything I need/want. I know it's still early, but the sooner I do/think about now, the less stress it will be later! (At least that's the hope.)

Aurora agreed to extend my reception until 11pm

Don't forget the cocktail hour, that could be from 5:30-6:30pm....if you have the ceremony at 4pm, you'l have plenty of time for pics before the reception.

I personally think an hour earlier is better than an hour later....

My ceremony is at 3pm. I REALLY hope they allow our reception start earlier than 6-6:30pm. Three hours between ceremony and reception is way too long, even with a cocktail hour. What are others' experiences with the timing?

That's my goal to create less stress for the end. We picked our wedding date due to our schedules since that's the first availability we'll have in the next couple of year...sad I know, but I think it will allow me to get everything done way in advance so I can hopefully relax a little more right before the big day!

You aren't use a judge or a minister? (i.e. you are having a friend/family member perform the ceremony?)

I definitely would have done that too. Plus it's been said by other brides that the 20 person cake has way more than 20 pieces. I know we only ate like half of our 10 person cake (and we were 10 people).

We are most likely having a friend of ours officiate the wedding since we doing the legal thing the day before we leave to not have to hassle with the blood tests and paperwork. In the event our friend won't be able to do so then we will be using the officiant that the resort offers. However my instant OMG freak out of not having 5pm (mostly lighting reasons) has been eased. Allowing some extra time before cocktail and dinner may be beneficial for our guests.

I'm getting ready to send in my deposit, I wanted to make sure all my big questions were answered first, so this is exciting and terrifying all at the same time two big deposits in one week with the resort and my photographers.
