I'm definitely doing this too...40 people at $55 per head is a small price to pay for having people talk about it for months afterward!

 

The sinister side of me wants this too, so the people who actually bothered to save for our wedding will love, love, LOVE it and go home bragging to the lazy ones who also had a year and a half to save. Muahahahahahaha!

One question that I never thought to ask before:

 

Was there a way for people to perform speeches? (i.e. was there a microphone setup and pedestal or something like that?) I really want this beach reception, but it's of utmost importance that my dad can do his speech. I think he has been writing it for years!

Yes they had a microphone for speeches...my sister and DH's brothers gave speeches. They set a TV and DVD player so we could watch a video montage that my cousin made

As there does not always seem to be consistency with RMB, I will be interested to hear what Geralyn says. I also did a beach reception and mine started at 6:30pm and ended 9ish, but we hung out on the beach until nearly 10. They were just cleaning up around us.
