2013 Oscars Fashion That Would Work for Your Wedding

alexisinjamaica

The Oscars were last night and while Hollywood’s best and brightest were being honored for the year in film, we couldn’t help but notice that many of the gowns could easily make the transition from red carpet to wedding aisle. Some of our favorite stars were seen in styles that would be perfect for any wedding—sexy mermaid, ball gown, on-trend peplum and more. Since celebrities often spark fashion trends with their everyday looks, we wouldn't be surprised if some of these Oscar dresses inspired a few wedding day looks too. So even if you didn't watch the show, don't worry-- we combed through more hours of red carpet pre-shows than we'd like to admit to get a glimpse at all the looks and glean fun tidbits about each star in the process. Thanks, E! Here are our top 10 picks from last night’s show to help you feel like a star on your wedding day!

10. Octavia Spencer

Dress designer: Tadashi Shoji

Perfect if your style is: Princess

Last year's Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress chose this ethereal Tadashi Shoji number for her return to the Oscars red carpet. We love the slight texture on the bodice and how light and flowy the whole dress looks. We bet you could spend all night dancing in this dress!

9. Anne Hathaway

Dress designer: Prada

Perfect if your style is: Clean and classic (think Audrey Hepburn).

Anne is rocking this simple halter top A-line blush colored Prada dress. Though she's normally known for wearing Valentino, she made a last minute decision (reportedly just 3 hours before the show!) to wear Prada last night. Perhaps a nod to her movie 'The Devil Wears Prada?' Who knows! With many brides opting not to wear white on the big day a simple pale pink dress similar to this one could be a perfect choice for those blushing brides.

8. Jessica Chastain

Dress designer: Armani Prive

Perfect if your style is: Sexy and sophisticated

This dress is stunning on Jessica, and we love how the champagne color plays off her bombshell red hair. Champagne is another on-trend non-white color choice for brides, and the sparkles here give this dress an extra level of glam that we think would be perfect for a wedding day.

7. Charlize Theron

Dress designer: Dior Couture

Perfect if your style is: Clean and modern

Peplum has been a huge trend this season and it was a fun change to see it dressed up for Hollywood's biggest night. Charlize is a spokesperson for Dior fragrance J'adore so it was no surprise she turned up in a Dior gown. This one fits her perfectly and we love the playful dip at the neckline and slight sparkle at the waist. If you love clean lines and a modern style, this could be the perfect wedding day look for you.

6. Queen Latifah

Dress designer: Badgley Mischka

Perfect if your style is: Simple and sexy

Badgley Mischka know their way around a wedding dress (and shoe!), making this design an obvious choice for a red carpet to wedding aisle transition. This dress looks so comfortable and it's extremely flattering to boot-- the deep V helps show off Queen's "assets" and the wrap around front with a bias cut emphasizes her curves. Plus, shoulder sparkles! How fun!

5. Jennifer Lawrence

Dress designer: Dior Couture

Perfect if your style is: Princess

We love Jennifer Lawrence! And though she probably had to have her own version of 'The Hunger Games' to get red carpet ready, she looks amazing in this Dior Couture gown. Like Charlize, Jennifer is a Dior fragrance spokesperson (for Miss Dior) and it was assumed she'd show up in one of their gowns. But we were pleasantly surprised to see her in this ball gown stunner with a subtle pattern. She looked every bit the Hollywood star when she went up on stage to accept her award for Best Actress. If you love a full gown this could be a contender.

4. Kristen Stewart

Dress designer: Reem Acra

Perfect if your style is: Sexy and a little edgy

OK so let's just acknowledge the fact that Kristen never quite looks like she's enjoying herself. But she sure can wear a gown! This Reem Acra confection has amazing detail. We love the subtle bit of skin peeking through the flowers, and the tattered edges and train give this just enough edge to keep the look from being boring or predictable. We'd expect nothing less from Reem, who makes some of the most stunning wedding gowns we've ever seen. Also, we like this gown a whole lot better than the one Kristen wore as Twilight character Bella Swan.

3. Zoe Saldana

Dress designer: Alexis Mabille Couture

Perfect if your style is: Sexy and playful

There's a lot going on with this dress, but somehow it all works. The flower detail at the neckline and the bow at the waist make this dress sweet and feminine. The ombre bottom is on-trend (love ombre!) and the mermaid silhouette and slight slit near the bottom ooze sex appeal. We love the idea of surprising wedding guests with an ombre bottom or a pop of color.

2. Amanda Seyfried

Dress designer: Alexander McQueen

Perfect if your style is: Girly and feminine

Here's another halter top style, but with the added touch of a sexy keyhole opening. This dress looks so soft and romantic. We love the detail on the overlay and how light and flowy this looks. And that flower pattern on the overlay makes this gown perfect for a spring wedding!

and now, our #1 favorite look from last night's show...

1. Amy Adams

Dress designer: Oscar de la Renta

Perfect if your style is: Princess, romantic

In the words of fashion maven Rachel Zoe, "we die" over this dress. The color is fabulous, the bodice has subtle sparkle details, and that full skirt/train look so ethereal with all the layers of fabric. If you're the type of bride looking for an over-the-top wow factor, this dress delivers.

Thanks all! It was fun to put years of useless pop culture knowledge to semi-use! And just to be clear, there were tons of other gowns that were amazing and gorgeous (Halle Berry, Naomi Watts, Jennifer Garner etc.), but since this list was about Oscar dresses that could be bridal, I had to limit the list.

I mean, at a certain point if you watch enough hours do they just offer you a show? Is that how it works? If so, we're in! At the very least we should get a guest spot on Fashion Police.
