We are leaving Canada on April 7th and getting married on April 12th. It's coming up so quickly!!! Is anyone (or has anyone) been married at the Catholic chapel? I'm wondering about contact with the priest beforehand to prepare the readings and music....

Hi Jessica! We are getting married on April 12th at the Palace. We have 80 guests joining us. We decided to go with the Palmeras Grill - we asked for it in particular. The coordinator told us that we would have to get the Strawberry Passion package and pay $66.00 extra for every person beyond the 15 person limit. We asked if it would be possible to get the Mint Breeze Package at the Grill, and she said that if we guaranteed at least 80 people we could have the Grill under the Mint Breeze Package. So, we are having our reception at the Palmeras. It's difficult sometimes to determine what response you will get on your requests for the reception, as it seems that each coordinator takes a different approach to it and it depends on other things that are happening at the resort as well. We asked about the Coral Grill, but our coordinator said the Grill is open for business that night and so we would have to go with the Palmeras. We decided to bring our own photographer. It was the same cost as hiring one there any seemed to be better quality than the onsite photographer. I hope this helps. That's really good advice actually. We were struggling with whether or not to do the welcome supper, but with the size of our group we thought it was necessary to ensure that we saw people sometime before the wedding. We're trying not to book the whole week before we get there.

I understand that you will have to pay extra per person if you are having a private welcome dinner outside of one of the restaurants. We are having a large group so to save money, we are having our welcome dinner at the buffet restaurant. Our WC is going to make a group reservation at the buffet restaurant so that our 80 guests can sit together. They are all staying at the Palace, so we are not paying extra per person. We are also planning to have a smaller dinner with our immediate family at one of the specialty restaurants the night before the wedding. Again, as all of our family are staying at the Palace, we are only reserving a table at the restaurant and there is no additional cost per person.

Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for all of the info from the recent brides and grooms. We are getting married in April, and it all seems to be coming together! We would like to reserve a table at one of the specialty restaurants the night before our wedding for our immediate families. Our WC has told us that we can make a reservation at one of the three specialty restaurants: the Brazilian, the French, or the Caribbean. Does anyone have any recommendations on which restaurant is better? We are making a reservation for 30 people, which includes 6 kids. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

I just found out today that the photographer who was coming with us from Canada is no longer able to make it. So, we are now going back to the drawing board and trying to find a photographer. I think we have settled on Claudia Rodriguez, so if anyone has any experience with her let me know, or if you have any other recommendations that would be great! Also, if anyone has a list of the menu options that would be really helpful. We would love to have the surf n' turf but are worried it may no longer be available. Hey! We are also trying to decide what to do about a photographer, and were also looking into splitting the flight cost with another couple. Our wedding is on April 12th - the week before yours. Not sure it would work to split the cost if we are not during the same week, but let me know if you want to see if we can work something out.

We are having our reception on April 12th at the Palmeras Grill. Gabriela told us if we could guarantee 80 guests (we have a large group) then she would be willing to give us the grill under the mint breeze option. I don't know if it's because we are getting married during a busy week (Easter break) or if they try to keep the grills for larger groups, but it seemed like numbers were the ticket for getting the grill. We were also concerned about the extra cost per person under the Strawberry package. Seems like a lot of money, particularly with a large group!
