Hi All,

Thanks so much for the nice welcome, and thanks to donandcorri for the AMAZING details those were exactly the answers I was looking for. Your pictures are VERY beautiful as well.

So did you do the ceremony and a dinner afterwards on the beach as well?

Sandra responded to me and said that the road to Tulum for the bike tour was going to be undergoing repairs the week of my wedding. I was so disappointed to hear that. My guests were looking forward to it. Hopefully we will still get to see it. It is one of the main reasons we chose Tulum.

We are also thinking about incorporating the breaking of a pinata around the time of the cake. I was thinking it might be a great addition to the festivities. I was reading about the tradition of the pinata in Mexico. It is quite interesting...

"In Mexico, the piñata is traditionally shaped like a seven-pointed star. It represents the devil and the seven deadly sins; hitting it with the stick makes him let go of the good things he has taken hold of. The piñata in Mexico is a symbol of hope and of new beginnings." The pinata also derives from China and Spain so I thought it would be a good addition as that is where our origins lie. I figured we might be able to fill it with items the guest might like... any creative ideas?

During the wedding day events, does Sandra pretty much direct the events. By all your responses it sounds like Sandra really comes through in the end.

I recently returned from a wedding in Japan and the coordination was impeccable. I have guests from Japan coming and I am hoping that we will be able to show them the same hospitality. I am a professional Event Manager for many Hollywood events and it is a lil hard for me to turn over the reigns to someone else and even harder when I am not getting the details I need.

amy706 - That is great that you are going down there! I am curious if there are any local stores by the resort just in case we have to get anything last minute and how close is the town? Are you renting a car? We are thinking of renting the car.

Did anyone also do room drops or gift bags for their guests?

We are trying to think of creative items...maybe local items that we can buy there...Let me know if you you see any thing interesting Amy....

Thanks so much all!!!!

Have a great night!

Sahara- we are not renting a car but I'll do my best to poke around and let you know. If you search under OOT bags there are a lot of ideas about welcome bags! sunscreen, towels, personalized cups/mugs, chapstick, flip flop cards, shot glasses, tequilla, etc.

So did you do the ceremony and a dinner afterwards on the beach as well? We had planned the reception on the beach after the ceremony but it started to get really windy & a little rainy so they moved our cocktail hour into Portofino before it opened & the reception into the wine cellar in Portofino. It actually turned out better that way in my opinion.

If you can't bike you should still be able to take a taxi for about $7USD.

Sandra & Landy took me through until the dinner - the maitre'd(sp) took over from the dinner on. I think it happened this way as we didn't have any plans set or anything booked after the dinner.

I am curious if there are any local stores by the resort just in case we have to get anything last minute and how close is the town? There are a couple of little shops on site for both souvenier type items and 2 shops that sell other items like medicine & toiletries. The souveniers are definitely more expensive than off-resort. Tulum is very close - didn't actually go into the town so can't really confirm what is/isn't there. Playa del Carmen is about 30-45 minute drive away - they have Sam's Club/Walmart etc.
