Any "Royal Plantation" Brides?

I just looked at this resort online and it looks great! Does anyone know how many rooms it has or how many weddings it does each day/week? I want to make sure there aren't a lot of people there other than my guests :) Also, what is there to do in and around Ocho Rios? I've only been to Negril, but loved it so I'm not sure about trying a part of the island I haven't seen yet.

Hey there! I have not checked in here in quite sometime but I can help a little!

RP has around 74 rooms at the resort and 4 dining choices I believe. It is also located next to Sandals Grande Ocho Rios and if you stay at RP you have full access to their amenities as well as RP. HOWEVER, the Sandals guests do not have access to RP, so it is a very private resort but if any of your guests want more options they are there. SGOR has just over 500 rooms, and 11 places to eat so you can walk over there if you want to try something different. We like that it is a small resort but we have a few guests that wanted more options to choose from so it's the best of both worlds when you stay at RP!

Here is the Sandals Resorts website:

Another good site with reviews and info on resorts:

Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor

You can even see videos & photos uploaded by reviewers.

I am getting married there on January 16th, 2010 (there are 29 of us going, 25 staying at RP and 4 at SGOR). We are the only wedding that day. I seem to recall that someone along the way said they usually only have 1 or 2 weddings a month there so odds are you will be their only one!

I haven't been there but I have heard great things. If you check the RP website you can see the excursions that the resort offers (including the Dunns River Falls). A friend who just returned from RP a few weeks ago also took the Bob Marley that is not listed on their website, they took a taxi service.

We just watched the movie "License to Wed," it's not my favorite movie but there are several scenes at the end of the movie that are shot at RP. The signage says Sandals but it is RP. RP is a Sandals property.

If it were not for this board I would not have even known about the bonfire option! If there is something you want just ask if they can do it, they don't advertise all the options. They also can arrange a booze cruise type of reception if you like (it's pricey though!) If you book so many rooms you get certain things included (cocktail reception for all guests the day before the wedding, your bouquet, etc.) You can choose a package or you can pick and choose only the options you like. It was suprised that we didn't actually start making choices about the wedding & reception itself (other than time & location) till after all our guests were confirmed and had paid for their trips. It is probably much easier if you have a smaller group than we do.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask! We are booked and so ready to go!! :) Best of luck planning!

Lauren
