Come to think of it, if you ordered it from the shop & they put your order in with the designer on the same day, the designer should have said at that time that the dress was being discontinued & they could not honor your order. I would think that this would happen right away. So how long ago was it that you placed your order that they are getting back to you today with this news?

On the other hand, with the same circumstances, I would think that if you already ordered it, and the order went to the designer, why would the designer not honor his/her committment to have your dress. It would seem that when something is discontinued, it only affects future orders, not orders already placed. Do I make sense here? LOL

I agree with the idea of trying to negotiate the alterations since you had to order a size up. That being said, they shouldn't have a problem making it fit properly, and $300 is really not awful for alterations. I bought my dress as a sample and paid about $350 flat fee for alterations, cups in the dress and bustle. I also lost 2 dress sizes, and they did a wonderful job making my dress fit perfectly. Don't stress, it will work out :)

It was not off the rack...they told me it was orderable (is that a word?) and that was last wednesday night, so only a week ago! So it took a week for them to find out that it was discontinued or they just put the order through this week and found out right away??

I didn't know that the designer pre-cuts some or whatever but I guess they do...

I don't what luck I will have with telling them they should take price off for alterations since I had to order a size bigger, because technically they measured me into a size 12 but I requested a 10 so the 12 that I am ending up with is technically the right size, although the only reason I had to go to a 12 is because of how wide my hips are..my bust and waist are smaller. So I will have to see what I can negotiate...I just hope the right dress comes!

You know what, at least the dress is in stock and it'll be in 2 weeks. This way, if it does end up being the wrong dress you still have a little time to get this straightened out. Have you checked online to see if this dress is sold anywhere else (ebay, discount bridal warehouses, etc) just in case?

Ok, well, let's wait and see what happens when it comes in. I've got my fingers, toes, and eyes all crossed for you that this works out perfectly.

I've been gone all day, so I'm just catching this ... I'm so sorry Michelle! BUT - I'm glad that it was the bigger size that was available since it can always be made smaller vs the other way around ... I'm sure it will all work out! After all the searching ... this is the dress! One size is not that much difference!
