Question for those of you with the Seawatch- did your WC send you anything from them that indicates your reservation? My WC said she has the contract with them, so all she sent me was a document that listed all of our arrangements with her signature on the bottom. Do you think this is good enough? I'm not that concerned because I have a friend who used her already and did hers there, but it is just that feeling in the back of my mind. She said she had actually never had anyone ask her before, but sent me the signed copy to ease my mind. What do you all think?

Yeah, I already paid the $200 deposit as well and also the $450 fee for the ceremony. My WC said she filled out the contract for me. She confirmed my date and sent me a signed copy of her estimates for everything, including confirmation that she received our first deposit (which also included a $200 deposit for her). I'm sure it is all fine. She's sent me pictures of the floor plan and other weddings she's coordinated there. And I've already seen pics from my friend's wedding. I'm just being stupidly paranoidblush2.gif

I don't think you are being paranoid. There is nothing wrong with asking for this copy of the contract. When I had our wedding I was communicating with both my coordinator and the sales manager where our reception will be held. Since you are planning this wedding from so far away, you need to be reassured. So I think it is perfectly okay to see a copy of the contract.

I wonder if she's marked up her price & just doesn't want you to see how much. I know in my business clients don't usually ask for contracts with the specific vendors, because they've signed a contract with us. Have you signed a contract with her that stipulates the usage at Seawatch? If so, I'd feel more comfortable & probably wouldn't need to see the actual confirmation from the restaurant. But that's just me.

I know she hasn't marked up the price because those are the prices posted on the Seawatch's website. We are paying her a % of the total costs. The thing I find weird is that we haven't signed anything. She has sent us various emails with information, and she did mail us a "receipt" of our first deposit, but it wasn't really a contract. She said I was the first person to have asked for one, which I find strange.

What she sent me was the excel document she gave us that estimated all the original costs. And she just signed the bottom. I guess I could contact the Seawatch directly to get a copy of the contract... I don't know. It's just one of those things in the back of my mind that's been bugging me. Like I said, my friend used her with no problems at all, so I think I would feel differently if I didn't have that recommendation. The entire reason we went with her was because of the recommendation.
