First of all, those are awesome and I wish I could have done something like that!!!

 

Second of all, it's not your invitation (or maybe it can be) so I don't think there is an "appropriate" save the date...it's meant to be like a quick note!!!

They are adorable. Just so you know, neither MY mom or my FMIL saw my STD or invites before I sent them out. As far as I'm concerned, it's my wedding and if I want advice I'll ask for it. I think you should do the same. Do what makes YOU happy.

 

I don't understand what would be more appropriate. DW aren't exactly "appropriate" by stuffy standards either.

i think those are just about as awesome and creative and cute as you could get. you must have worked your ass off to make that. is it gonna be possible to make all those for the guests? and you tell your FMIL where she can shover her STD's (hahah that was funny in so many ways)

Wow - they really are fantastic! I guess my advice for your FMIL would be this:

 

To some people the idea of a destination wedding and all the more modern fun things people do for them comes as a big surprise. There are many people in the world who think that since this is a "wedding" than everything must be done in the same way as all the invites/weddings they've attended. And well, they're boring. Your STDs are awesome and I think your FMIL has bad taste if she doesn't like them!
