Dumb Question About Engraving Rings

Do you just call up a jeweler and take a ring in to get engraved and they do it while you wait? Or do you send it somewhere? Is it expensive to have them engraved?

It depends on the jeweler and how busy they are. Some places will have you drop the ring off and you can pick it up a few hours later, while other places send it off and you get it back in a couple weeks.

Our jeweler offered to do it for free, but we took our rings home to think about what we wanted engraved. I know for our jeweler, I would have to drop it off and come back. I think he has someone else doing the engraving.

 

Shop around or ask where you bought your rings if you have already if they could throw that in.

You will often have to leave them. Unless you're dealing with a jewelry designer, many retail places won't have engraving equipment on site.
