day of the dead cake toppers

so our best friends spent new years in disney world and they bought us a gift from "mexico" in epcot. they're these great little day of the dead figurines and we decided to use them as our cake topper. they just crack me up and i had to share!

oooooh, i LOVE Dia de los Muertos stuff so those toppers are right up my alley. i would have totally used those!

Love them! Actually, my wedding present from DH was a huge Dia de los Muertos statue. My parents also gave us little ones like those.

 

I had a unicorn and a narwhale as my toppers - so this is seriously normal in comparison.

I was on a kick finding sugar skulls but I couldnt find any good ones and most sites were on how to make your own.

Hmmm...this is an old thread, but I'll post this here in hopes of getting a response from someone.  My FI has his heart set on a day of the dead cake topper.  We are, however, getting married in February of next year.  Is there anyone who knows enough about this Mexican celebration to tell me, is it okay to use those images outside of the actual holiday?  I would just hate to find out after the fact that for the Mexican people, it was a big NO-NO.  But I guess my FI is right in the fact that they certainly sell these images all year long there...HELP!
