Should we upgrade our room??

Recommended Posts

I need to decide whether or not we will upgrade our room...

Right now, we have booked a Junior Suite. Other options are Full Suite & Jacuzzi Suite.

JUNIOR SUITE

Junior Suites feature bathrooms with a whirlpool tub, separate standing shower, bidet, double sink, make up mirror and hair dryer. Room amenities include closet with safety deposit box, extra pillows and blankets, iron and ironing board, liquor dispenser and minibar. A step down living room area with sofa leads to a balcony with chairs for your enjoyment.

FULL SUITE - an extra $898.68 for our 8 days in Jamaica

Twice as large as the Junior Suite, these rooms feature bathrooms with a whirlpool tub, separate standing shower, bidet, double sink, make up mirror, hair dryer and plush bath robes. Room amenities include closet with safety deposit box, extra pillows and blankets, and iron and ironing board. A large step down living room area with a sofa leads to a terrace with lounge chairs.

JACUZZI SUITE - $1,248.68 more than Jr Suites, $350 more than Full Suite

Twice as large as the Junior Suite, Jacuzzi suites feature the same amenities as the suites, plus a large step down living room area with sofa leading into a double balcony with an outdoor private Jacuzzi tub.

I think that is an awful lot more money for not a lot more of anything. Everyone who I talked to who had teh jacuzzi tub on the balcony never ever used them. I really think you are not getting much more for the money. Besides you will not spend that much time in your room and when you do, it will be in bed, so what does it matter what the rest of the room looks like as long as its nice. I personally did not think the up grade was worth it, neither did Curt, so we used the money on other things and saved some.

I say stick with the Junior Suite, or go all the way with the Jacuzzi Suite. The Full Suite just seems like the only difference is the size. I voted for Jacuzzi Suite. Generally I would say go simple, but it is your HONEYMOON!! And with all you've been through over the past year, you DESERVE IT!!

If it is in the budget, get it all. If you have to cut somewhere, maybe this could be the place to save some $. Besides, how much time are you going to be in your room (other than the bed)? Well, on second thought, the jacuzzu would be nice to (fill in your pleasure) (ex. relax, read, other).

I say go for the Jacuzzi Suite! If I was staying at the RIU for our honeymoon, I would definitely do it. I had the choice between the Jacuzzi Suite for our wedding or a crazy nice place for our honeymoon and I chose the latter. I think you will spend more time IN your room during the honeymoon than you do during the wedding when all of your guests are there.

honestly, i'd say stick with what you have. i just don't ever spend that much time in my room when i'm on vacation. but it's really a personal preference! it seems the junior suite is really nice too.

oh, and you HAVE to let them know you're getting married and it's your honeymoon - they will often upgrade you for free!

we just had this exact same discussion last night!

i have to agree that it is an awful lot more money. for us, that is more than our guests are paying to stay 4 nights. you will be spending a lot of time in the room on your honeymoon, but it's not like the junior suite isn't great, too.

that being said, if it's in the budget i would totally go for it!

sorry ... guess i wasn't much help.
