Shared Prong wedding band

I want to get a shared prong wedding band, but I heard it cuts into your engagement ring over time. Is this true?

I have a shared prong band. It has definitey scratched up my engagement ring. I talked to the jeweler & he said it's no big deal, just bring it in periodically to have it polished & redipped. But yeah, it definitely does a job on the ering!

I was told by my jeweler that it depends on the particular band and engagement ring. I'm going to have to have my engagement ring reset to a cathedral setting b/c now it is a low setting. Some one told me though that you can get a spacer ring to wear in between to protect them. I might do this b/c I really like the look of both of my rings.
