How I kicked my Diet Coke habit

For those of you that are trying to kick the habit, I HIGHLY suggest quitting cold turkey. It worked for me and I used to LOVE my diet coke.

As of 12/31/07, I have officially been Diet Coke free for 3 months!!! I definitely feel less bloated and I'm not even missing it anymore. My original plan was to reward myself with a diet coke once I reached my weight loss goal, but now I think I'm going to try and go a whole year without it.

Good luck to all of you who are trying to kick the habit too.

Oh no!!!! It's soooo hard to quit. I have to say, the first few weeks coming off of it are the worst. It was soooo hard to pass it up. We still keep cans of it at home but I just grab a bottle of water instead.

The hardest part was when we would go out to eat. I LOVED to have diet coke with a burger or BBQ. Now, I just drink water and honestly, I feel better. Soda used to make me more thirsty and bloated. Water helps fill me up better so I eat less, plus it helps flush everything out. If you can get passed the first 2 weeks, you can do it!!!

I know, when we go out to dinner I always drink water, but it's my caffeine for the day, and without it hello migraine...

I'm going to give it a try (starting tomorrow of course! lol)
There really should be a 12 step program for diet coke addicts. You can do it. Just take it one day at a time. LOL!!!

Good job! I used to be a diet coke a day girl too...funny, now I can't really remember how long ago that was. I'm thinking maybe a year and a half or so. I thought it was a harmless mid-day treat, but now I know that it was the caffeine kick - every day at 3pm I would have one. I wonder what's REALLY in there that makes it so hard to quit?? Hmmmm...

I used to always have a DC midday, coffee in the morning, DC in the afternoon. Now I just have the coffee, no wonder I'm always sluggish in the afternoon! I have tried a couple of times to quit coffee, but I don't think I can do it, I love it too much, I'm always tired, and I get massive headaches when I don't have it.
