Slide show songs

Recommended Posts

Any suggestions for what songs to use for the slideshow at the rehearsal dinner? It is about 15 minutes long. I think I want to play Jack Johnson's better together for the part showing me and my fiance together. What should we use when we are showing pictures of us growing up? Any recommendations would be appreciated!

It may be cliche, but Forever Young by Rod Stewart might be cute for the growing up pictures. Young Hearts Run Free by Kim Mazelle (from the Romeo + Juliet soudntrack) could be fun too. But my top pick would have to be Wouldn't it Be Nice by the Beach Boys. It's just such a fun song! pinkie.gif

Here's our slideshow song list (for now):

Bride growing up - Secret Garden by Bruce Springsteen

Bride with friends/family - In My Life by The Beatles

Groom growing up - Ain't No Other Man by Christina Aguilera

Groom with friends/family - Stand By Me by Ben E. King

Bride and Groom together - At Last by Etta James

Other songs that we considered for the various categories were:

Somewhere over the rainbow - Israel Kawahuh.gif (from 50 First Dates)

Girls just wanna have fun - Cyndi Lauper

Whatta man - Salt-n-pepper

Keith Urban - Making Memories of Us

I don't know if it's bold of me to say, but 15 minutes is a LONG time for a slideshow!! Unless it's sort of a thing in the background, I think people will get bored after about 5. I don't mean to be rude, but that came to mind when I say 15 minutes.

Anyways, I'm using Rob Thomas' "Little Wonders"

I know 15 minutes sounds really long, but Trev and I just got back from our friends wedding and at their rehearsal they had about a 15 min. slideshow and I have to say I was crying the whole time, it was so sweet! I think if you do it right, have nice music (and have some funny pics too!) that you can get away with it. You can be a little overindulgent...it's your wedding!!! Just make sure everyone has a full glass before it starts! or serve coffee/dessert before.
