For me, our top reason for picking LC was the guarantee that we wouldn't have men in speedos in our pictures unless we invited them rolleyes.gif aka. guaratneed private beach
What the heck is BDB? I'm assuming it's me so I'll answer. If not, welp, I still answered. :)

TOP reason was the guaranteed party. We talked to a lot resorts and it didn't seem like they had many extra specials. Every wedding seemed the same. But Las Caletas has a boat, 7 hr open bar, private beach, bonfire, and fire dancers. I love describing my wedding to people because they are all so amazed at how elaborate it sounds. We definitely wanted our guests to have a good time because we like to entertain. This was a perfect fit for us. PLUS it's so romantic too. I can't wait!!!!

The reason Kevin and I decided to get married at LC was simply because we love the beach. We try to travel to Puerto Vallarta 2-3 times a year (we're going in December). We love it there and couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else. We didn't want the typical resort wedding so when I researched PV weddings and it came up with LC it was a quick sell for me! Plus it's very affordable and something our parents are willing to pay for....that's a little extra bonus!

Brooke and I decided to get married at LC for a multitude of reasons:

a) Our wedding location was based upon our honeymoon and it ended up being PV.

B) We wanted to get married on a beach.

c) But the very nice resorts in PV wouldn't have any type of ceremony for us because they're a "family resort"...So we did some research and found LC.

d) And it was the pure beauty of the place shown in the photos that we saw that sealed the deal.

e) Until we talked to Nicole for the first time and both felt like she was a family member - not our wedding coordinator...Which then double-sealed the deal for us.

=)

59 days and counting.

I wonder if anyone has ever falling off the boat. I've watched a few videos and I thought the railing didn't look as high as it should be....especially if tequila shots are involved. lol When I was on a cruise, we made a deal to not go near the railing when drunk for fear of falling over. I'm such a clumsy drunk.
Omg my mom asked Nicole that question at the site visit because she was so worried one of our guests would fall off the boat drunk! Nicole said it hasn't happened yet but one time they thought someone did on the way home, but they found him curled up asleep in like a cubby of some kind...lol The railing in the front of the boat on top is low, but there aren't seats there and I don't think people are supposed to hang out there. Of course with our crowd, some people were like "This is the best place on the boat" LOL.

Here are some of our drunken boat pics:
P.S. Our capitan was hot!

tip:hang on to a pole if you plan to stand! It gets rocky.

some drunk fool took this pick from the front of the boat

I saw the captain salsa dancing alone so I started dancing over to him

*note the captain's expression..also note my hand on the steering wheel for balance, shortly after this pic we hit a wave and I lost my balance, turning our boat to the left a bit..lol

note the low railing on the top deck and drinks in hand...no casualties though!

Quick question, you said that you got 150 silver plated seashell name holders. Where did you get those? Anybody else have advice on name holders?

Also I am looking for an upbeat, fun song for when we are walking back down the aisle together (I think that is called the recessional, but not sure) Any suggestions on that one?

Thanks, Katie

I have found that a lot if not all the info I have gotten from the forum has enabled me to purchase some items and they all arrived and were great from online shopping.

Place Card Holders

I got hand fans and parasols online as well. The parasols are for decor around the beach not for the actually ceremony.

Japanese Kimonos, Chinese Paper Lanterns, Chopsticks, Chinese Dresses

I'll keep you posted if I see anything else since Im there about 2 wks before your wedding. So exicted!!!
since you guys are getting married so close together - you could always share some things to save $$ and save both of you carting stuff down to PV. I know Nicole would be willing to hold on to some stuff for the 2nd wedding - Marisa and I were going to do the same thing, but ended up not doing it because the stuff she had shipped never arrived in PV! just an idea.

i was barefoot almost the entire time without a problem. i walked down the stairs, and throughout the ceremony, and maybe even dinner. i think i put on some shoes to walk back to the boat though.

Those of you who've already gotten married at LC - did you have kids at your weddings? Were there any problems?
We had 4 kids there - ages 4-7, and they were totally fine. But they're also pretty well behaved, independant kids and don't need a lot of supervision. I am so glad they were there - and they had no problems at all. They pretty much danced throughout the night with the rest of us!

My favorite thing ... damn, that's a tough one. I guess just the entire setting - it was exactly what we wanted. It was private, romantic, beautiful, intimate, good food, a good WC, ... so many things!

The original reason we chose Las Caletas is because we wanted privacy - we didn't want a resort wedding with a bunch of random onlookers. Once we found LC - we knew it was perfect for us, even though we didn't see it until our wedding day!

  • 2 weeks later...

Totally changing the subject is ya don't mind.

Is a site visit included in the LC package? I thought it was. If so, when is this typically done? I arrive Wednesday, March 26 and my wedding is April 1 which is a Tuesday. Rachel's wedding is Thursday so that day is probably out. Monday is no good because the guys are going deep sea fishing. Don't know if the weekend is an option. Hmm...

Also, has anyone mailed or is thinking of mailing items to Nicole to hold?

I found this adorable starfish cake topper from ebay and it's fragile and I don't want to risk flying with it.

thanks

Marla - I just responded to your email too, but a site visit is included, but you don't have to use it if you don't want to. It's really not a necessity, unless you just want an excuse to visit LC before the wedding, or really want to look at how things will be set up. We didn't use ours. It would just basically be a free day tour, if I understand correctly.

I know Marisa sent items for Nicole to hold, but not sure they ever got there. My hunch is that you're better off taking the cake topper with you as opposed to shipping it - it will be safer with you!

I agree. The closer we get to finalizing our wedding, the more we see bring it with us. We did ask Nicole and Kelley about shipping to them. They did not mind although they weren't certain it would be there for the wedding even months in advance. With that we'll take our chances on the plane. A few things I heard from Puerto Vallarta Bride was that:

Do not put anything in the luggage you couldnt live without! Not that this will happen but it could, not be there when you opened your bags :) Definitely nothing of true value. Bring that on the plane in your possession. One more thing she mentioned. Don't keep open tabs with credit cards. Not a good idea!!! Cash is good in Mexico theirs or ours! USA

Marla,
I don't see why you couldn't do a site visit on the 27th. Our weddings take place after the day tours and you would be part of the day tour. Plus I'll be there hanging out with my peoples.

If we couldn't go do a site visit on days they had weddings, then I don't think anyone could take advantage of this free offer. They have weddings nearly every day!
