Electronic Litter Boxes?

~Melissa~

Recommended Posts

Our kitty has decided unless the litter box is cleaned 2 times daily she will crap on the floor, right beside the litter box. Therefore weâ€re thinking of buying an electronic litter box. This excites me very much!!!

Anyone have any recommendations or reviews? Weâ€re looking into the Littermaid and Iâ€ve seen mixed reviews online

Frank's sister has one for their cat and it seems to work really well for them.

I, on the other hand, scarred my cat for life by trying to use one of them. The idea that this machine scooped her shit after she was done freaked her out so much that she decided to find her own bathroom in the corner of the dining room on the carpet.

We had two cats and the Littermaid (and a couple of others we tried) didn't work out. The cats always broke the damn things with all their crap.

I think if you have one cat, it's probably a lot better, but more than that... they always seem to break from the people I've talked to.

Cats & their crap - always an ongoing battle in our house hold. Glad to know I'm not alone. The dog is awesome cuz she craps outside...the cat is absolutely driving us crazy right now for various reasons. She sure pees enough for like 5 cats. It's amazing. I would be afraid her ginormous pee clumps would break the machine.

Fun fact: we live in a tiny apartment. When we moved here it was still fall, so it totally worked to have the dog & cat food as well as her litter box outside on the patio. Well, once it started getting cold that didn't work out. Now we have the cat box in our tiny laundry room that is connected to our tiny kitchen. If someone closes the door to the laundry (which you basically have to do to open the fridge), then we all get to wake up to the death cry meow in the middle of the night. Fun times. (and totally off topic - sorry)

Reminds me of the moment when I realized I should never have kids:

I went to go change the litter one day and the phone rang. I stopped and answered the phone and talked for awhile.

For 3 days my cat attacked me in the middle of the night, just *howling* with her cries. I couldn't figure it out...

And then I realized that when I got distracted by the phone call, I had emptied her box and forgot to fill it back up....

we settled for 2 litter boxes next to each other.
Yeah we thought about using 2 instead... it is the cheap option but I really like not having to clean it as often. I mean i would still clean it once a week at leats but not 2 times daily. It's such a PITA!
