Not a AHR but want something...

We are having a get together at my parent's house with everyone that couldn't make it to the wedding. We plan on having some finger foods and a cake bought from Costco. We are going to have the wedding pictures and video playing on different TVs and computers. We are getting legally married in Phoenix so we are also inviting family to that.

 

If your house is small try a park. Not sure if that would be feasible were you live but here you can rent a ramada for under $50 for the entire day...just have to watch about the alcohol rules. You could also just try a restaurant that has a big room.

 

Whatever you do I don't think it has to be big and fancy or formal...that is what your DW is for!!

I love the idea of doing something small and informal! If you're circle is potluck-oriented, that's great. And by all means, show the video, display the photos, have a cake (your local grocery or costco is more than enough) and even wear a cute white dress and put some flowers in your hair! People are there to congratulate you, celebrate your marriage and catch a glimpse of how fab your DW was.

 

Another thought, if you do it during off-hours (ending by 6:00pm, or starting after 8:00pm), people won't be expecting it to be food-oriented. So, much cost savings there!
