Reception party back home?

Recommended Posts

Hey girls is anyone having a reception party when they get home? My FI's parents just put down a deposit for our reception party when we return from Cabo. We are only having 30-35 in Cabo and wanted to include the rest of our friends and family when we return. So far the list is around 170, but I know it will keep growing...

We are really debating that right now. My FI's family and friends really want us to do something, my family is soo into whatever I want- they're not very demanding. I just don't know if I want to- after all, part of the reason we went to Cabo was to save $$ (having an AHR would defeat that purpose!) and "keep it small" (which would be impossible to do here).

Also, I think by the time I get done planning the Cabo festivities I will not be in any kind of frame of mind to plan something else for a while!

I'm debating the same thing. Originally I had said we'll go away and plan a reception when we get home because most people wouldn't be able to make it to mexico, but the more I thought about it, the more I agree with Sarah, the whole point of going away for the wedding was so that we didn't spend so much money. The only way I think we'll do it, is if we did something very low key, like a summer bbq or something, nothing that was going to require tons of planning and money.

HI there-

We are having an AHR 4 weeks after our wedding in cabo. I REALLY didn't want to, but our parents were pretty adamant. It is mostly for their friends and for extended family and our coworkers. We are inviting 225 and it is an open house with wine, beer and hors d'euvres. Also, it is costing us another $7500 so that is a huge consideration. I am refusing to do any of the planning and luckily we found a place that is really cute inside and doesn't need any decorations!

We are also having a party in my hometown on Cinco De Mayo. This is close to 1 month after our wedding and after our honeymoon. We thought the 5th of May would be great since we got married in Mexico. This party is nothing fancy...but will be fun. It will be fiesta theme with Mariachi's and all!! And this is more for my parents friends and family who didn't attend the wedding.

Kristi - that's a cute idea.

I really don't want to have an AHR, like many have said - it defeats the purpose of having a DW! But if for some reason there are a lot of people that can't make it to PV, then maybe we will think about it - but it would be a pretty casual event.
