Garment Bag for Wedding Dress???

Hey Ladies,

 

Where did all of you get your garment bag that you are transporting your wedding dress in?

 

I have the one that the bridal shop gave me but it's really thin - Suggestions?

I also have the one the bridal shop gave me. I hadn't thought about getting another one. I guess I will wait to hear (i.e. read) what worked for everyone else.

I just used the one the bridal shop gave me, it was thin - but it worked.

I have the one the bridal shop gave me, but they also showed me another one that I ended up buying - it's made of cotton and lets the dress breathe and is supposed to keep it from yellowing.

I bought my dress from a bridal shop on ebay.. it came in a thick plastic (clear) bag.. then I bought a garment bag on ebay.. it was really thin almost paper-like. I went to a local salon to buy one and that's exactly what they were going to sell me... I ended up keeping the dress in the clear bag and putting the thin bag on the outside.. it got really dirty (the outside bag) but I knew the dress was protected from water/etc... didn't matter because it didn't leave my hands.. It was VERY warm carrying the dress and may have been in part to the thick plastic bag?

I was wondering the same about my dress and about getting it on the airplane. Do the airlines let you take your dress as a carry on?

When I was shopping around for a dress, places like Kleinfelds and Pricilla of Boston told me they would "package" my dress for the plane ride in some special way. Why not call them and see what they have to offer? They could be completely full of crap, but it doesnt hurt to call

I was just going to use the one the bridal shop gave me until I watched one of the latest episodes of Married Away! AH! Her dress got torn on the plane! It went right through the bag and through her dress! I had a panic attack and I'm now in a search to find a thicker one!
