Marriage Certificate - How long did yours take?

We just had our annual enrollment for benefits at work and a few of my co-workers got married, but didnt have I guess 'proof' so they couldnt add their new spouse to their benefits. I am trying to decide if we would get our certificate in time for 2009 if I got married in August 08..

 

With that said, I am interested in knowing what country you got married in and how long it took to receive your marriage certificate.

I got married in CA so we got ours in a few weeks.

We are doing the legal paperwork before we leave, because in the DR, it can take MONTHS to get it back ... so we wouldn't even be able to add me to FH insurance during that 30-day window if we did the legal stuff in the DR.

Thanks for bringing up this topic, I was wondering the same thing. We only have 30 days after a "life event" to add spouses to our insurance. I'm worried we won't have the marriage certificate in time. I would love to hear more feedback!

CA.. $13 got it the same day.

Got married in St. Thomas on a Wednesday, picked up our cert from the courthouse the following Monday.

How do you get it before you leave Or is there a way to get it faster than the time in the country you get married in??

We got legally married in Texas the day before we left, and when we got back a week later, the marriage cert. was in our mailbox.
