Welcome to the forum! Seems like you have already gotten lots of advice from our members... probably more than you expected! Believe it or not, the mroe you plan your wedding the more you will realize that repeating the phrase "i am the bride and it's my wedding" daily can get you through a lot of stressful situations! As far as locations, I have seen some beautiful pictures from Tulum weddings... let us know how we can help narrow your search down:)

Well, any place in the carribean is a great place to wed. It depends on what you want. I have been to Jamacia(2), DR(2), Cancun(1), Riveria(3) and Cozumel(1). The best beach every is in the DR, the best people every is Jamacia, most to do in the Riveria. We are getting married in Jamacia because it's Dave's favorite place, I would have picked the DR because I love the beaches. Also, from MN they only do 7 day trips and we needed to have the 4 day option.

I researched ALOT before I chose Dreams Tulum just as I'm sure every bride has before they chose their place. I'm in TX so my flight won't be long but everyone can just take a nap on the plane DREAMS is BEAUTIFUL! I have info on Dreams Tulum if you need anything just let me know.

Take a peek at the Iberostars- I like the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo for weddings as there is just so much fore everyone to do plus there is a childrens water area and a lazy river! It's only about 30-45 minutes from the airport- here's a write up I did for another of my brides:

 

Iberostar Paradasio Lindo – Between Playa de Carmen & Puerto Morelos

 

4.5 Star Resort

30 minute – 45 minute drive from Airport

 

Ambience – This resort caters to a family crowd and had plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. The décor is Mayan in nature with marbled floors in lobby.

 

Size - Very Large Property, actually a complex of 4 resorts– the Lindo section has 446 rooms. Has trams to bring people to different sections. Nice walkways with beautiful gardens.

 

Rooms – Large & comfortable. Includes a stocked mini bar replenished daily- stocked with beer, soda & water. In room safe is the self programmable kind.

 

Service – Excellent, employees are upbeat, friendly and helpful.

 

Grounds – Beautiful, extremely well kept. There are multiple fountains, statues and the gardens are very well manicured and mature.

 

Pools – This is where the Lindo shines – there are 5 pools- two lake sized pools with a swim up bar, a pool for sports, lazy river, wave pool & also children’s pool area. Drinks service provided

 

Beach – A nice beach – not fantastic & not bad either. The sand is soft underfoot. Water is Caribbean blue and warm. There are abundant chairs on the beach and a beach snack shack. In some sections of the water are large boulders that were uncovered after the hurricanes.

 

Food & Beverage – Average to very, very good. There are 10 a la carte restaurants on property -Gourmet; Seafood; Steakhouse; Cajun; French; Mexican; Italian; Japanese. The a la carte restaurants can be booked when you first arrive, no limit to how many times you can visit. Also have a dress code for men , pants and closed toe shoes. Does not need to be fancy.) There is also a tapas bar, ice cream bar & taco bar. There are several buffet choices, they are large with plenty of choices for breakfast , lunch & dinner. 24 hour room service. 24 hour food & beverages.

Premium liquor served in lobby bar – all others domestic.

 

Entertainment – Nightly band that plays in the plaza & nightly shows at the theatre. Disco’s on site- one adult , one teens. Entertainment staff has activities planned during the day from active competitions, pool games to arts & crafts.

 

Honeymoon Amenities - Bottle of Domestic Wine, Fruit Basket & Two Tee shirts

 

Other Considerations -

The non motorized water sports are included – sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, & snorkeling. Other activities abound such as, tennis, ping pong, billiards, air guns, archery, volleyball

**This resort has it’s own water filtration system- not available in the bathrooms, still need to use bottled water for brushing teeth.

**Wednesday’s there is a beach party, chef’s cook Paella over an open fire and serve sangria!

**Spa facilities are wonderful. It costs $35.00 to use the day facilities, treatments are extra.

** Includes complimentary shuttle to Playa De Carmen

 

The Bad – There are no elevators and the buildings are 3 stories tall. Porters will carry your luggage to your room.

If you are looking for something a bit more tropical in nature the Iberostar Quetzal is great! Not as fancy as Paraiso Lindo and a few less amenrties but a good AI resort!

 

Iberostar Quetzal/Tucan –

 

3-3.5 Star Resort

45 minute drive from Airport

 

Ambience – This resort caters to a family crowd and had plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. The décor is Mayan in nature. The majority of guests are American.

 

Size - Mid size property, actually a complex of 2 resorts– the Tucan buildings are on the left hand side ( when looking at from the ocean) and the Quetzal is on the right hand side both sides have 350 rooms.

 

Rooms – standard rooms but comfortable and very clean. Includes a stocked mini bar replenished daily- stocked with soda & water. In room safe, a/c, ceiling fan, bath has shower only! Private balcony or terrace.

 

Service – Excellent, employees are upbeat, friendly and helpful.

 

Grounds – Beautiful, extremely well kept. This resort is set into 28 acres of jungle with exotic birds, monkeys and iguanas!

 

Pools – The pool is nicely kept, has a shallow entry in one end. There is also an adults only pool with a swim up bar.

 

Beach – One of the nicest beaches in Riviera Maya! A large beach with white, soft sand ! Water is Caribbean blue and warm. There are abundant chairs on the beach and 4 bars serving the beach & pool area. Very calm beach great for water sports and swimming.

 

Food & Beverage – Average to very, very good. There are 5 restaurants on property -Steakhouse; Tropical; Mexican; Italian; Japanese. The a la carte restaurants can be booked when you first arrive, 3 visits per stay. Also keep in mind that there is a dress code for men , pants and closed toe shoes. Does not need to be fancy. The buffet is large with plenty of choices for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Room service available from 11am- 11pm. 24 hour food & beverages.

Domestic and premium brands available – for the premium you will need to ask as they generally keep that under the counter.

 

Entertainment – Nightly shows. Disco’s on site. Entertainment staff has activities planned during the day from active competitions, pool games to arts & crafts.

 

Other Considerations -

The non motorized water sports are included – sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, & snorkeling. Other activities abound such as, tennis, air guns, archery, volleyball, bicycle tours. There is also a beach party one night a week.

The Bad – Due to a few European clientele there may be some topless sunbathing on the beach.

 

Book the specialty restaurants when you first arrive ( if you’d like to change the reservations later you can) as it can sometimes be difficult to get an earlier reservation.

Beds are firm ( they are in almost all Mexico hotels!)

If your looking for a bit more moderate property my third suggestion would be the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort! I beleive that there is info on that property from a few brides that are getting married there!

 

I'd love to be able to help you narrow the resort choices down in Riviera Maya or Jamaica!

 

Some things to take into consideration when choosing a destination/resort are:

 

How long will your guests be staying? If most will only stay for a few days then I recommend finding a location that is closer to the airport.

 

What atmosphere will most of your guests enjoy? Are they more laid back, adventurous, partiers, want childcare available, access to shopping, gambling, will they want activities available all the time at the resort or access to outside activities?

 

Do you plan on taking a honeymoon after the wedding at a different resort in the same area or will just stay on at the DW resort?

 

What is important to you & your fiancee as far as amenities ?

 

Is it important to be one of a few brides getting married that day or don't you mind if there are a bunch-the more the merrier!?

 

And of course the reutation of the WC at the resorts!

Cancun has a lot of direct flights and a lot of all inclusives in riviera maya, yucatan peninsula, tulum!
