shower $ question

Recommended Posts

Around here Sunday brunches cost about $18-22pp. My aunt and cousin are throwing my shower for me as they insisted. My BMs (I only have 2) will probably be helping with setting up or something like that, but won't be contributing $ wise. We also always do a spiked and non spiked punch so there is no need for an open bar. Did anyone else in your or you FIs family offer to throw a shower for you? If they did maybe you can just have your bridemaids help out with the other stuff so they don't have to spend so much. Otherwise, what if you just picked a restaurant with a private room and ordered appetizers, cake or dessert and had pitchers of soda, beer and/or wine for drinks. That should keep the cost per person down since you won't be having an elaborate meal and you should still be able to find a place that is architecturally what you prefer?

We have our work holiday party there every year. I bookmarked these menus in case we decided to do something catered for our AHR.

The #1 place I want to go to is a Mexican restaurant that Matt used to work at, called Los Sarapes. They have great food and the best maragaritas ever. The menu they gave me were from $21 to $28/person for a Sunday brunch menu. I just wasn't sure if that is unreasonable or what. There is also an Italian place like a block away from me called La Casetta which is brand new and has a great look to it, but the lowest they quoted was $30/person.

I do want to be conscience of my BM's, so we'll see what happens. I just wanted an approximate on what is normal, so I knew if I was being ridic. I was trying to stay below $15/person, but hadn't found ANY that could do that.

If you can find $15 per person that's still $1,500 for food. That's over $200 per bridesmaid. There is still the tip, invitations, decorations, etc. Plus they will buy a gift. Even if you can find a place that's $15 per person, is it still something your girls can do?

maybe we just keep it a lot cheaper where I'm from, but I'm in shock at a shower costing so much. A friend told me recently that as a bridesmaid she was told to contribute $75 for a shower & I couldn't believe it. But I guess if this is common in other areas, then BMs are used to it. They might want the same type of shower when they get married and won't think anything of it.

Will all 100 people show up? If a lot live out of town, they may not all make it. That might help some cost.
