Hey Michelle...congrats, I'm so glad that everything is coming together for you with your date and all. I too am a medical student and just wanted to say hello and to let you know that if you have any questions to feel free to PM me. I don't get on the site much but I try to check it at least once or twice a week. I'm a fourth year student and I'm getting married in April 5th 2008 in Los Cabos.....I'm kind of crazy right now with residency interviews, step 2CK, rotations, praying the match lands me where my future hubby is, etc....! The best advise I can give you if you can afford it is to get a wedding planner and/or travel agent that is local who helps you to interface with the coordinator at the resort......a lot of people may say this is a waste of money but you know what our schedules are like as medical students...especially as a 4th year during interview season. That was the best money I have ever spent. All I do is tell my planner my vision and what I'm going for and she coordinates everything with the resort, does all the negotiations, waits for people to get back to her so I don't have to stress about how long its taking for someone to get back to me...She sets up phone conferences between vendors, myself and the on site coordinator/planner...she basically makes my life a whole lot easier with what I've got going on. We talk at least once a week either via telephone or in person and during the rest of the week we are e-mailing back and forth on a daily basis. It works better for me because in the beginning of my planning stages, waiting to hear back from the on site planner and Cabos vendors, was driving me nuts and not to mention I had no time for it......when I got engaged I was on my surgical Sub-I so you can imagine. I honestly don't know how I could have done it without her (my local planer) and of course without e-mail! Let me know if you have any questions. Goodluck with everything and with medical school, etc.! LaKesha

Hi! So I get it too... I just finished my doctorate in physical therapy and am studying for my boards, job hunting, moving my grandmother into an assisted living, and trying to stay sane with the wedding planning! I actually have a WONDERFUL travel agent who has made SO many phone calls on my behalf to the wedding coordinator in Mexico... she is a God-sent. Her name is Colette, she has arranged a majority of my guests travel and has beat any prices we have found on-line... she really is amazing, I just was lucky enough to have found her! PM me if you would like her info, otherwise finding some other 3rd party would definitely benefit you! Don't worry too much, let someone else stress-out for you... its their job wink.gif -Holly

I soooo know what you mean Brandoo...I have a travel agent and a local wedding planner to help with everything and to interface with the on site coordinator.....It has helped out more than I ever imagined....I'd hire them both again in a heart beat....I agree, let someone else stress out for you with the wedding....you have enough stresses in med school. Sometimes I have to take a step back and re-evaluate myself becasue I find that I allow my stress to exude itself as bitchiness or lack of patience and I'm sooo not like that. But after working like 14-16 hour days (that's not even an on call day) on top of flying every week to an interview, studying for boards and rotation exams, dealing with family drama & illnesses and then wedding planning on top of that, I would go bananas if I didn't have tons of help........but the most hilarious part of it all is that I VOLUNTEERED FOR THIS! I crack myself up when I think of it that way.
