Now Larimar Punta Cana Wedding Planning Help!

Recommended Posts

Hello brides!

My fiancé and I are in the planning stages for our wedding and are very interested in booking at the Now Larimar. It's a little overwhelming as we're both new to this, so looking for any and all advice anyone can provide :) It would be greatly appreciated!

We're planning to get married in April 2019 to avoid spring break and storm season. I know its early, but I'd rather be prepared ahead of time ;)

- How far in advance did you book this resort for your wedding guests to get the best prices?

- If anyone can help provide a guide to how much they paid? We live in NB Canada and were quoted a price of $1925 for the larimar (not the now garden) which is all inclusive flights/hotel etc.. We know someone who attended a wedding at the larimar 3 years ago and paid around $1500, this feels like a big jump in price. I'm wondering if prices are high because we are booking too early (still have 1 year 8 months to go).

- Wondering if its better to book with a travel agent or do it myself through the resorts airlines to get the best prices. Any booking tips would be appreciated!

- How far in advance should I book the wedding date with the resort to ensure I'm able to get the ceremony/reception locations we want?

- We were looking to get prices for both the Now larimar and the now garden and give people the option of choosing. Does anyone know if the bride and groom could still use the "credits" at the now larimar if most of the guests book at the now garden?

- Anyone who has either been to the now larimar or gotten married there, how was the service, food, rooms etc..? I'm a little concerned about the food compared to Mexico as there food is pretty good! We're looking for a nice/classy hotel but not too expensive for our guests.

- Have any brides gotten their wedding hair and makeup done at the spa at the larimar? How was it? Did the hair last through the humidity? I'm worried my hair wont hold up in the humid air

- Has anyone booked the master suite (biggest room) at the larimar? Was it worth it?

A lot of questions here, but really appreciate any help/advice anyone can give :)

Congrats to all the brides

Hello and Congratulations!  A travel agent will not only be able to get you competitive pricing, but they will handle the travel arrangements for you and guests, answer any questions your guests may have, etc... and take this piece of the stress pie off your plate! :)

I am one of the Wright Travel/BDW TA's, but we're located in the US. You'll be able to get the best rates and pay in Canadian dollars with a Canadian TA. I can recommend our agency affiliate Darci Huhn -   [email protected]

we've stayed at Now Larimar a few times and our experience was always good. The food was good and I feel it's a good moderately priced family friendly option. The Master Suites are very nice, they're only rooms with an ocean front view and it's nice to have the extra space. It has a separate bedroom, living area and a second bathroom off the living area.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks! TA Patty

Congratulations!!

No, I didn't choose Now Larimar... I didn't read that great reviews, plus I didn't want to get married at a resort.  However, Punta Cana you pretty much have to stay in one.

The forum for our wedding venue (off resort) people discuss resorts and where to stay etc. and I thought I'd share a recent post by someone who was going to get married at Now Larimar...

"I wanted to get married at Now Larimar. The package that was presented to have everything i would need was priced at 3500 outside of decor. Only to find out that in order to change the color of the napkins was 5 dollars a pop and not included in the additional 1500 extra for decor. Centerpieces that should only be 50-60 dollars to upgrade (from the original decor package) were full charge. The only option was to do everything separately which resulted in hundreds of dollars in additional fees. Not to mention the outside vendor fees. The one photographer/videographer is very overpriced and the list goes on....

About two months ago i had my first wedding meeting with my old wedding coordinator at now larimar at the end of the call my wedding was almost 17,000. I cried until my FH came home and he said he had enough of Now Larimar."

Somebody else chimed in with " I was at Now originally too and that same thing happened to me. I told my husband we may as well have a "regular" wedding in the states. I was so upset with those fees!"

What I will say is those who have stayed have said they 'liked it', but not rave reviews.  Just wondering if there is a reason why Larimar is at the top of the list?  You have plenty of time to plan!

Although you are not going in spring break, be careful not to travel around Easter, outside of North America people get time off over Easter plus DR is quite busy over the Easter period.

Good luck and don't worry about anything said above, if you think its the right place for your wedding then perfect, just wanted you to be aware.

Thank you Ta patty!

Thank you JBwedding. We like the now larimar because of the ceremony location at the fountains and know of 3 people who've had their wedding or attended a wedding there and liked the resort. I've priced some things out already based on pricing from the resort and everything (including fully decorated tables and some other décor) came to under $10,000. I'm not sure what that couple chose to make the price so high. I appreciate you letting me know, and will keep this in mind :)
