caboboundbride
I am planning a destination wedding in Cabo next year and trying to decide on a photographer. I'm considering options both in Cabo (Destination) and my hometown (Local). I know there are different pros and cons to each, so I'm curious to know what you all choose. Were you happy with your decision? Anything you would have done different when looking for a photographer?
rkilmer0319
@@caboboundbride Hi! I had this same debate. I ran the numbers on a photographer at home and in Cancun that I thought were at about the same skill level and quality and it was almost exactly the same to bring one with me rather than getting one there. But ultimately I decided I wanted someone that shoots in the area on a regular basis. I loved the style of the photographer from home but it's hard to picture that style translating to the tropical colors of the beach resort when all of that person's photos were taken in midwestern settings. With a photographer that shoots destination weddings in the area day in and day out, you know what you're getting. It's also been helpful to have the local photographer to bounce ideas off of on wedding day timeline, what other destination couples have done, etc. We haven't had our wedding yet but every time I see photos of other couples from our photographer, I feel more and more confident in my decision. Hope this helps. Best of luck in making your decision!
LarryTheGroom
Hi, I've hired my wedding photographer, but I need some help for my photo session. Any suggestions or ideas how to make my photo session perfect? Thanks!
kittymeow27
A friend of mine faced the same dillema. She was thinking it was better hiring vendors from the location since it would be cost efficient than bringing suppliers from her local hometown. However, she realized it was a case to case basis. She's a Filipina marrying a Fil-Am in the US and it took a long time for them to decide where to get marry. Eventually, they decided to have their vows in Florida. Some of the suppliers were from her hometown (relatives who were already part of the guest list) and the rest were from Florida. For example, she brought a wedding singer, a coordinator and a videographer from the Philippines and hired a photographer from Florida. The caterer, of course, was from Florida. Her husband has a friend who happens to be a restaurant manager so it all went well.
