Does anyone have an suggestions for readings during the wedding ceremony? Did you have readings during your ceremony or just vows? I would like to have at least two readings to include some of our guests. I'm struggling with choosing readings though. I think I would like them to be religious but I'm not sure. Feedback from people who had readings and people who didn't? Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!

I plan to have the same -2 readings. I think I am going to find nice poems or snippets from books to use in place of the standard "love is patient. Love is kind " readings. I have not picked them out yet though.

We had a nice one when we got married in 2011 and we asked that it be read again when we renewed our vows this past October. I'll take a look for it tonight and see if I can post it here.

Hi @@MeredithLynne

Having a family member or a friend doing a reading during ceremony is a cute wait to incorporate the people you love into your wedding union.

Here are some ideas for a heartfelt reading we've seen on our beach ceremonies. Another suggestion is to choose a part of your favorite book that talks about love.

The one

When the one whose hand you're holding
Is the one who holds your heart
When the one whose eyes you gaze into
Gives your hopes and dreams their start,
When the one you think of first and last
Is the one who holds you tight,
And the things you plan together

Make the whole world seem just right,
When the one whom you believe in

puts their faith and trust in you,
You've found the one and only love
You'll share your whole life through.

You were born together, and together you shall be forevermore.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.

But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

On Marriage

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other's cup but drink not from one cup.

Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other's keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other's shadow.

Good luck choosing your readings!
