Dreams Riviera Cancun 2016 Bride Questions/help!

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am getting married at Dreams on July 8, 2017.  I am having the ceremony on the beach at 6, cocktails and dinner on the deck at 7p and 8p.  The ceremony will be 20 minutes and we will take pictures afterwards.  Sunset is at 730.  I want to take pictures with my family before cocktail hour and then I will take pictures with my husband.  I don't mind missing most of cocktail hour so I can take pictures.  I'm just not sure if this is enough time.  6pm was the recommended time due to the heat and sunset time, but I was wondering if I should move the ceremony time up 30 min so we aren't rushed to take pictures before the light runs out.

Also, I am trying to make a decision about the food.  I haven't been assigned a WC yet since my wedding is more than a year away so I don't know who to ask.  Do each of the guests have to choose their entree ahead of time or is it an option to let them make their selection on the spot.  Also, I was curious as to the buffet options.  Are there different themed buffets, and how are they?  Would you recommend the buffet or plated dinner?

So excited but so nervous at the same time! I appreciate any advice.  Thanks!

@@jmeyer Im not sure which dreams your are referring to. about your timeline. it is all doable.  1hour for photo session after the ceremony is enough.

i have created a full wedding timeline to follow as example. follow link to see it.   https://www.facebook.com/groups/Destinationweddingbride/files/

Happy Planning!

Hi,

I just recently booked my wedding at DRC for January 12, 2017!  After looking at the budget planner form, it definitely seems like our wedding is going to cost more than we had initially hoped for.  Have any previous brides had any luck with negotiating?  Or do you have any tips on what areas to save on?  Our ceremony will be on the beach and the reception will be on the deck.

We expect to have around 60 people.  Does anyone have any input on the dance floor - do we need to get the one with "12 modules" for 60-70 people, or would the smaller one suffice?

@@jmeyer - You do need to provide the hotel with your guests' dinner selections in advance.  There are different buffet themes, however we've chosen to go with plated.  Buffet is more expensive.

I think I would definitely consider moving your ceremony up by 30 minutes. If you don't want to be rushed, the extra bit of time allows people to congratulate you and be relaxed for your photos. Giving the photographer a few extra minutes is always a good thing!!

Sorry I can't help out with your other questions. There is likely a former DRC bride that will step in with info. The alternative is doing a search to see what threads come up. I know there have been a couple.

Good luck!!

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not but I just want to clarify.  Im getting married at DRC and the gold menu states that I have to select one of each: 1st course, 2nd course, entree and dessert.  It says I can mix and match.  So does that mean I can have my guests preselect any menu item ahead of time and just notify my coordinator of their selection, or I have to pick 1 of each item and everyone eats the same thing.  It seems a little strange to require everyone to eat the same thing so Im assuming the former option is correct, but just wanted help clarifying.  Thanks
