Iberostar Quetzal Brides

Recommended Posts

@@Harper370, I am using the resort photographer. They are not the best in the area but they are decent. We went with the gold package which include 4 hours of coverage.

If I had a bigger budget, I would have hired Del Sol. They have amazing photos.

I really want to go underwater TTD photos. Those plans are still up for debate though.

@@lcole1 and @@DLS2016 thanks for sharing your plans. I will too. I just got the spreadsheet so am starting to look at what restaurant to choose, etc.  I really like the idea of open air but I think some of my guests (like my mum) will really appreciate air conditioning :)

What is everyone's timeline looking like?

I always liked the idea of doing a first look and all our couple photos first partially just we can enjoy everyone's company right after the ceremony... but of course there will still be family pics to do!  Seems a bit trickier to do first look when people will see us out and about taking photos....

Yes the vendor fees are quite outrageous! I had to cancel Beso brides because of that.

Is anyone using the resort photographer? I'm trying to decide if the getting ready session is worth the extra money. They charge a pretty hefty fee also.

Hi Harper,

I spent quite a while looking for photographers in the area as well because I didn't know if I trusted the resorts photographers/videographers. It's so hard to make these decisions from abroad! Have you check out Octavio Montes? I've only had positive things to say about them so far! I stumbled upon his reviews on this website and saw they were highly rated and had better pricing than most other photographers in the area, his prices were comparable to using the resort photographers but you get a longer time frame and more options. My wedding isn't until Jan 2017 so I can't speak for the finished work but he has been very responsive and easy to work with so far and asking for details such as what time frame I want, certain looks and shots I'm looking for etc... We are also using his videoography service which also appears to be better priced than others in the area. If you want a good price photographer check out  http://www.octaviomontes.com/.

We actually signed our contract with the resort photographer. They were very accommodating and our questions. I wish we would of had more time to look more into it but our wedding is May 9 so time kind of got the best of it.

Wanted to see how everyone is planning on taking their dress on the plane. I was thinking of just carrying it on and hoping for space in the captains closet. Feel like I have an extra luggage with all the extra things I need to bring.

@@Harper370 for some reason I thought your wedding was after mine (June 26th). Plesse let me know how PhotoPro goes!!

I plan on carrying my dress on the plane. They have these wedding dress boxes you can buy online that have a convenient carrying handle. My dress is just too heavy to luge around in the bag.

I definitely will! I still have to send them 5 songs for our video. They have been good so far.

Yes it's getting close! What's the name of the box you got. I was thinking of bringing a steamer just in case my dress got wrinkled in the process.

Yay!! I'm so excited for you!!!!! What restaurant are you having your reception in?

Here is a link to the box it's a bit pricey at $50 but to me it's worth it because it is carry-on specified. https://weddinggownspecialists.com/content/courier-destinationweddingkit

I heard the hand steamer wasn't worth packing. Most brides reported not needing it. I did hear a lot of women say they hung on the dress in the bathroom and turned on a hot shower and that was enough to get the wrinkles out.

The resort charges $30 to steam the dress if you need it.

Thanks for sharing! That's great info I didn't know!

I'm Would be a little nervous having them steam it.

We are having dinner on the beach. It's a little late at 7pm but that was the only time they gave us.

@@Harper370 I signed with PhotoPro too. I'm glad they have been helpful with questions! I haven't asked any yet but I feel like I'll have a bunch as it gets closer. I was worried since they asked for the getting ready room number on the contract and I won't know that until we check in but I'm sure that's something they are used to.

I feel like my biggest worry right now is how all the meetings will go when we first get there- I think we meet with the wedding planner first followed by the photographer that same day? Does that sound like what you've been told too?

As for the wedding dress I'm torn between carrying it in a garmet bag and hoping they'll let me hang it up or something like @@DLS2016 is doing. I was going to ask when I get alterations done if they've had destination brides before and what they've done. (I got my dress from Kleinfeld's from Say Yes to the Dress so I feel like they might have some ideas!)

Is anyone getting hair done? I am going to get mine done at Iberostar because it comes with the package I bought and there's a trial included. I'm nervous about how it'll go!!
