I know for us people tried to 'shop around' but our ACV price was always lower than anything listed online so that enticed and in the end, made almost everyone book with us. The two that didn't both booked late and paid over $500 more per person and were lucky to even get a room.

Have you been on expedia or sell off lately to compare prices right now to your group rate?

It's going to happen unfortunately. All you can is do is gently remind them of the benefits for them to book as a group (it's kinda tough to say why you want them too hehe).

 

Reasons for them - handled by a TA, travels with you guys as a group, gaurenteed a room as Moon Palace books up quick, etc. Ohhhh and if they book at another resort - the fees to come to your wedding. :)

@@calgarybride2015 Thanks! That's a sigh of relief...I seriously hope the same will be true for our rates. 

Unfortunately, expedia and sell-off rates aren't available for 2017 yet...so the only thing i've been able to compare to are 2016 rates. I'm not sure if that's really the best comparison because I know rates tend to increase year over year. Our rates for 7 nights from Toronto to Moon Palace Cancun are about $2100 and the expedia 2016 rates are $1750...

I REALLY hope that the 2016 rates are not anything like the 2017, I can't imagine them being so, because i'm sure my WP would get a lot of angry phone calls...lol

@ Hi Friend...thanks that was super helpful. I'm really hoping that my WP did her best with quoting us the best rates possible, $1650 is such a great price!!! I wish i was a little more patient with getting a better quote for our guests...but I know that year over year it tends to increase by a couple hundred  :(

If you could send me your PO's that'd be amazing! ([email protected]) With the 16% tax and USD...i can see the decor adding up to be quite a bit  -_- :wacko: so i'll definitely make sure to negotiate, Thanks again!

Hi Jess! I've booked LatinAsia to do the decor for our ceremony and reception. I have their catalogue with pics and prices on my laptop at home. I will send them to you tonight. Let me know if you need other brochures too like Djs, hair and makeup, etc

 

And don't worry about trip pricing. We booked over a year in advance and our quoted price is still better than what I'm seeing online. And we're less than 3 months from the wedding date ;)

Hi Ladies,

 

Just a quick little update before I head to bed tonight...

 

I'm not going to lie...this past weekend has been really stressful, i've cried multiple times over the RSVP deadline which is tomorrow. The fact that everyone wants to wait until the VERY last minute is driving me absolutely insane! We've had a lot of people we thought would book as double books as singles (UGHHH, WHY?! It's $1000 more!). This isn't helping because we're trying to guarantee our group booking minimum which is 10 double occupancy rooms. To add to that, it also doesn't count towards our 12th room free promotion (requires 7 night stay, double occupancy). Our family has also made up excuses as to why they can't come anymore and this whole RSVP thing is just COMPLICATED!

 

I'm trying to group up single occupants into double rooms so they don't have to pay the higher rate, we get to meet our group minimum, and add to our 12th room free count. People, let me help you!! 

 

I just can't wait for tomorrow to be over and hear that everything is OK...One annoying thing about this suppliers group booking is that for any changes to the reservations/rooms they charge $75...but beach so many of our guests are expecting their plus ones to book at a later time, it makes it difficult to group people so they can pay the lower cost now without incurring the $75 fee.

 

Oh...the stresses...

Hugs. I know how stressful this time is. Most of my guests booked in the last couple days, with most being on the final day. People don't understand what it means for you and how numbers work and their importance. I hope today you can get everyone booked in and the numbers you need. Hugs keep us posted. Ps - we had people who we swore would come that didn't and vice versa. Try not to let that get you down. Cherish the people who can come and the fact you are marrying the love of your life. :)

@@jes0912 maybe your resort or airline is different but for our free passenger credits it doesn't matter when people book (ex. before or after our deposit deadline) it's all about payments being made in full by our full payment deadline.

 

In our situation we have 61 deposits that have been made as of today. At our deposit deadline it was something like 40. I thought the same way you did but when I clarified with our TA she said there is not reason to stress until final payment time. For us (and I hope for you too) that's the time that matters most. My FI and I have been trying to mentally prepare for the fact that although 61 have booked likely 10 will actually forfeit their deposit and not make final payment and therefore not come.

 

Try not too worry. It's easier said than done but I find reassurance in knowing we aren't the only couple going through this stress. Reading this site has made me realize most of us go through the same or similar drama with our friends and family.

 

Chin up! Everything will work out and when you get to your big day and you'll forget about all the little annoyances that occurred throughout the process (that's what I keep telling myself!).

@@ashhtayy Yah certain things can wait until the final payment, like the 12th room free promotion, but the 10 room minimum needs to be booked by the deadline. But I guess it's just the stress of all of it that I'm getting overwhelmed and just want everything confirmed sooner rather than later. Thanks for the kind words!
