Hi Everyone! My fiance and I are in the very beginning stages of planning our wedding in the Mayan Riviera for either November 2016 (likely) or Jan/Feb 2017 (less likely). We are still trying to narrow down properties but I have so far absolutely fallen in love with Azul Fives, especially the option of the Sky wedding. Has anyone started the process of planning a wedding at this resort or have you considered it and chosen not to have you wedding there? Any tips or thoughts would be very helpful! Feeling overwhelmed, but very excited :)

Thanks!!

Congrats and welcome!

I'll totally agree with the two previous posts. There are several threads here about Azul Fives if you just search up top in the search bar, and MTM provided you with a couple as well. It's a beautiful resort and the Sky deck is very popular, but be aware that it's at a cost.

Good luck and happy planning!

@@hirvine83 I'm getting married at AF June 7th, 2016. Selecting the resort was definitely the hardest part...until I laid my eyes on the Sky Deck and then I was sold. Although I too haven't done much planning we are booked for a 4:30 ceremony followed by a cocktail hour at the sky bar and reception on the Sky Deck.

Just an FYI if you do go with AF - there is a fee for the Sky Deck. We booked and got it for $1700 but I believe it's gone up to $1800. In my mind it's well worth it for that fantastic view :)

Happy Planning!

the sky deck is so worth it!! I had my wedding there a bit over a month ago and it was perfect. You definitely won't go wrong with it ;)

At times it can feel like they're nickel and diming you but it was all worth it once there. The resort is gorgeous. the service and the food is amazing and the wedding department truly go above and beyond to make sure your day is exactly as you dreamed it. I know I complained quite a bit about this resort before going there but I have nothing bad to say about it now. The price for traveling was a little bit over our budget for what we wanted our guests to pay, but everyone agreed that the extra $200 was very well worth it. For most of us, this was the best hotel we've stayed at!

There's other brides on here that are having their wedding there pretty soon. I know @snswedding is going to the bride's dress rehearsal pretty soon :)

Hello,

I am also in the very beginning stages of planning a wedding in Playa Del Carmen/Riviera Maya for Feb 2017.  I am struggling with the property since I like Catalonia Riviera Maya but it seems like the higher end hotels offer more perks for groups.

Have you found many hotels to offer group discounts ?

Azul Fives didn't offer us many perks because we are Canadian. We got one of their packages for the reception tables and because we also upgraded our ceremony to the sky deck, our TA was able to negotiate the ceremony fee ($950) and they gave us that for free. Also, because we booked our travel with a GI certified TA, my hair and makeup were free as well as the trials. I also had a mani and pedi for free but I honestly didn't have time nor did i want to be stuck at the spa when the weather was so beautiful!

I think our biggest perk, was getting every 11th person free. This was such a good deal! We got two people for free and we were able to help some of our friends and family out with that.

At the end of the day, with perks or not, I have no regrets. I couldn't imagine my wedding anywhere else :)
