Deecol's Planning Thread - Gbp - April 30Th, 2016

Just found out two of Col's friends booked the hotel a while ago, still need to book their flights but that brings us up to 40 guests (not including Col & I).

 

Our payment deadline for the Canadian side is on October 21st.  I'm pretty confident that everyone will make their payment in time due to the fact that some didn't book because they knew they couldn't make the October deadline.

 

We're still expecting approx 10 more to book, but again, I'm happy as it is.

 

In the 6-month countdown now!!!

Omg after I posted I was like "S*** that was so insensitive of me" after what you've gone through the past couple of days - I hope I didn't offend you!

 

We just missed the 2 passengers free mark by 2 people, but it gives us some wiggle room and at least we're getting one.  

 

Can't believe it's jut over 6 months!  Col texted me today when he realized that as of today, we've lived in our apartment for the same amount of time as it is until the wedding and that flew by! - I think someone's is getting excited lol

@ We have 40 people with their deposits down, 19 in Canada and their payments are due Oct 21st.  21 people in the UK who have all their own individual payment deadlines.

@@deecol no worries, you didn't offend me at all! I'm happy that you don't have to stress about numbers because it's really an awful feeling. I know ppl have their reasons for not attending and cancelling but sometimes you can't help but take it personally.

We have to pay what we have to pay regardless.  Some GBP's offer a free wedding package with so many bookings but of course ours doesn't.

I don't have any major updates, but been MIA this week so thought I should post something

 

We went back to our original First Dance song choice: Ed Sheeran - Thinking Outloud

It may be overplayed and everyone is using it but it was the first thing we decided on after getting engaged, before date or place or anything else.  It still feels right.

 

We have had another guest from the UK book.  I found out they have until February to pay, I'm not worried about any of them not paying in full.  I did my numbers wrong before, and with Col's friend booking the other day that now makes 24 from the UK.

 

Two of our Canadian guests paid in full, their deadline is Oct 21st.  With 17 coming from Canada, that leaves 15 of them to pay their balance - again I'm not worried about any of them not paying.

 

So that brings our total to 41 guests (2 are children) plus Col and I!  Still a few more to book.

 

Nothing has really happened on the planning front, we've decided to look for our bands and the guys suits around the boxing day sales since we'll both have a bit of time off.  This weekend I'm heading out with my mom to pick up some stuff for my shower in February and my best friend's bachelorette on the 24th.  I feel like after her bachelorette, I can start to focus on my stuff a little bit more since she'll already have her shower and bachelorette out of the way.

 

I'm getting so excited!  When the two guests made their payments I had a real "this is happening" moment.  Today one of the guys wrote in our wedding facebook group "Flip Tourney UK vs Canada anyone?" - It's going to be such an amazing week!!!

We're sticking with Ed Sheeran's Thinking Out Loud too! I thought about changing it because my sister keeps telling me it's overplayed but like you and Col, we chose that a while ago so it feels weird choosing something else. Der actually got upset when I mentioned changing our song. He said that every time he hears the song, it makes him happy and excited about our wedding. Once he said that, I knew I was wrong in wanting to change it.

 

That's great about all your guests booking. It sounds like it's gonna be such a blast!

 

And I understand where you're coming from. I felt like I couldn't do too much wedding planning until after my brother's wedding. I did a lit of planning in terms of booking vendors but I didn't want to do too much overt planning since I didn't want them to feel like I was trying to overshadow their wedding.

Tried my dress on for the second time since I got it in February, but this time I tried it on with the veil,  They look perfect together!!!  I'm definitely going to get some veil weights and rock it for the ceremony. I didn't want to take my dress or veil off lol

I'm so glad the veil goes beautifully with your dress! How did you get it on yourself? I attempted to try my dress on by myself and struggled to zip it up. I had no one but my dog around and she was no help lol
