Day 3

Since it was pretty overcast, a lot of people decided to do their own thing during the day. Some played golf, some went to Puerto Morelos and Der and I decided to explore the resort. According to his mom, who ran every morning, it’s 2km from one end of the resort to the other end. So walking this everyday definitely alleviated major weight gains during the trip! You seriously appreciate all the work everyone puts into the resort, it’s well-manicured and really clean. And Der found a friend along the way.

During our walk, we stumbled across a wooded area with a path and an entrance sign. I am not exaggerating when I tell you that it looks like a scene from a horror movie. You know, they scene where you’re wondering why anyone in their right mind would even walk in there. So of course we decided to walk in. Inside this area was a fenced yard with a miniature Chichen Itza structure….and a mannequin head beside it. I’m not lying when I say it was really creepy, especially with the head laying there. This is Der posing beside the “ruin” while holding the head, creepy huh?

That night some of us decided to eat at Gondola, the Italian restaurant in Sunrise. The food was amazing! This is us with a round of tequila to kick off the night.

Since the nightclub, Noir was open that night, we all decided to party. Der wasn’t feeling too good so he stayed in the room while some of us partied. My bridal party surprised me by throwing a mini stagette in Mexico! They gave me a shot glass necklace to wear (which was filled with too many tequila shots) and a pair of dice. I was to roll the dice and do whatever it said. The first one I rolled said “Play a kids game with a bald guy”. I got the first bald guy I found, showed the dice and he played “rock, paper, scissors” with me. His girlfriend thought it was hilarious and took tons of photos. The next one I rolled was “Play a kids game with a short guy”. Well we always make fun of Der’s best man for being below average height so I played pat-a-cake with him. After a lot more shots, we eventually forgot to play some more LOL

Love the pics!!! That head is rather creepy I don't disagree.

It is actually awful practice to 'probe' for a vein! Glad you didn't have that experience considering you would be sleeveless. Your coworker is sweet.

@@ashhtayy it was super fun and totally unexpected.

@@calgarybride2015 I don't even know how a mannequin head would get there, that's what made it extra creepy! And I'm glad to hear that it's not good practice to dig for veins. It was super painful! The guy who drew our blood in Mexico was really good. No bruising whatsoever

@@Wafflesmom I LOVE reading your review! It sounds like you had such an amazing time! Can't wait for the rest of it.

Reminds me I need to finish mine too!! :P

Oh and that mannequin head....SO creepy and somehow more disturbing that you found it by the fake ruins lol! So random but I'm sure one of those funny moments of the trip that you love looking back on. Those are always my favourite travel memories...the completely weird/random/bizarre ones  ;)

Day 4

This was the day before the wedding. It was a beautiful day so we all headed to Downtown Cancun to explore. This photo was taken by my sister to capture our last "day of freedom" lol

After walking around, we all decided to head back and just relax by the pool. Amazingly, I was not nervous or concerned about the wedding at all. The only rule I had that day was no drinking. Yoni from Styling Trio advised against heavy drinking the day before the wedding as it could dry up your skin and cause bloating. I was a stickler with this rule and it’s funny because Styling Trio actually noticed LOL

Even though Der and I have been living together for over 3 years, my mom wanted us to follow the tradition of not seeing each other on our wedding day. So that night, Der stayed in our room and I stayed in my mom, sister and nephew’s room. My nephew was super excited to have a sleep over with me!

Before I left, I made sure that Der’s outfit was all ready to go and that it didn’t need any steaming. We went through everything he needed to bring to his parents’ room (where he would be getting ready) and said our good-byes. I reminded him to call reception to ensure that our room would be cleaned early morning. It was really sweet because I knew that the next time I’d see him would be at the ceremony.

That night, it was so hard to sleep. I would close my eyes and get super excited. It was surreal to think that I only had one sleep until we were married….crazy!

@@Wafflesmom Happy One Month Anniversary!

I like that you followed tradition and didn't see Der until your ceremony. Although I'm not all about following traditions, I would do the exact same thing if my mum asked. Plus, slumber parties are the best...at any age!

And great work sticking to the no booze the day before your wedding. That's my goal too but I anticipate us slipping up lol

@@Wafflesmom wow one month already?!?! Congrats :)

Col and I will also be sleeping apart the night before even though we've been living together for over 4 years. I think I'll be the same as you and not able to sleep!

Thanks for sharing the no drinking tip! My bachelorette party will be the night before so a detox day before the big day sounds perfect.

Somehow I've missed commenting on your review! I love these detailed reviews - really lets me feel like I was there and I get so pumped up for my own wedding seeing how much fun you had with your guests.

Everyone is so happy and having tons of fun in all the pictures, looks like the perfect week  :D

Thanks for the no-drinking the day before the wedding tip! Like @@deecol I'm planning a bachelorette party 2 nights before, so luckily I probably won't want to be drinking that day anyway!

I think it's sweet that you followed tradition and slept in separate rooms the night before the wedding. I hadn't really thought about doing that before, but am guessing we would both sleep terribly, lol.
