Wafflesmom Moon Palace Planning Thread - January 23, 2016

Thank you @@krystalball I always tell people to keep an open mind when trying on wedding dresses so I thought I'd follow my own advice with veils. I'll post about it in 2 weeks and let you all know how it goes

I agree. I said I didn't want a veil. it wasn't for me. But I kept an open mind and tried one on. I still sided with no veil but I tried just in case :)

@@calgarybride2015 truth be told, I've always loved mantilla veils and had envisioned that when I get married, I would have a long Cathedral mantilla veil. So I agree with all you ladies that it will be good to see it for myself.

@@Danielle1 I'm so glad you're enjoying your new job and can now get right back to wedding planning. As always, I'm here to help you if needed :)

Ok I need your input/opinion on something. I'm filling out our legal ceremony forms (so exciting) and we have to identify 4 witnesses, two for the Groom and two for the bride. I was initially thinking that members of our bridal entourage could be our witnesses but Derrick only has one on his side (his best man). I have one MOH and three bridesmaids so if we get four from that group, it leaves one out (does that look weird)? Or we can get four other witnesses (maybe Der's sister and brother in law, and I could get my brother and sister in law). But would this be too many people moving around? Thoughts?

@@Wafflesmom omg I'm in the same dilemma.  Only Col's groomsmen will be in the country long enough to be official witnesses, we were thinking of having their wives sign as the other 2 witnesses.  I don't know how that all works during the actual signing, like do my 2 bridesmaids do anything and then the 2 wives come up?

Thank you for asking this!  Hopefully we can get some answers!

@@deecol I thought I was asking such a trivial thing so I'm glad that you also think it's a good question. I just think it would look weird if only some of the bridal entourage signed. I could also get two bridesmaids two sign as my witness then have Der's best man his sister to sign but then I think that could look weird too having one person who's not for the bridal party do it

@@Wafflesmom I agree - I don't know how it all works...  I agree that it would probably look weird having different people than in the bridal party come up to sign, but I don't know if there are really any other options.

Thanks for all your input @, @@Danielle1 and @@deecol

You're all right, maybe close family would be best. We're not having our parent's names on our wedding certificate since it will cost us so much more for original birth certificates with an apostille so maybe having our parents as witnesses would be perfect! What do you think @@deecol? Immediate family would be at the front row anyways so it shouldn't be too bad right?

Ok second question, my dad died 29 years ago so who should I ask ask my secondary witness, my brother or my uncle who has been a father figure to me?

I think immediate family is a great idea. Unfortunately the Canadians won't arrive 4 business days before, well they technically do but they won't count the day they land. So all my witnesses will have to be Colin's side, some are going for 2 weeks land a couple days before us, some for 10 days and will land the day after us.

I think you should go with your gut on choosing your brother or uncle, it's hard to say because I don't know your relationships like you do. Either way it will be beautiful and a nice touch to have them as your witnesses.
