Recommended Posts

Yesterday was a big day. Previously only my parents, sisters, and sister's family had put down deposits. Yesterday I got his parents, sister and family, our two good friends, and my aunt. My cousin and another couple are probably going to give me their deposits today. So we went from us + 5 adults, 2 kids, 1 baby to us +15 adults, 4 kids, 2 babies. Grand Sirenis free package here I come!

So we're having our first major planning conflict. I have set up everything to be palapa + BBQ Beach menu. Now Sean is telling me he doesn't want TABLES??? He just wants standing cocktail type stands. Really??? Neither one of us was budging in our conversation. How can you have a dinner without tables and chairs??? We're going to have children and babies and ...WTF! LOL, I'm sorry I'm not changing it. I basically know that anyone we talk to is going to agree with me, and I'm going to let him hear other people say it to him.

That's interesting. I've seen the high boy tables (well so have you in the lobby bar) and I think it would be very cramped. Each only fit 4 people so with plates, drinks and possibly favors and table decor you will be cramped. They are also high chairs which are uncomfortable for some and depending on the length of your reception impede blood flow lol. I have the bar style at my house and my legs always fall asleep. Also you'd need way more tables as you can only fit half the amount of people at them!! I wouldn't change it either.

Congrats on your legal ceremony!! You both look so happy :)

The tables issue, that would be one thing I would not budge. I know he might not see it now but he will once he gets there and sees everything set up. Do not give in on this one haha. I agree with @@calgarybride2015 that it will be too cramped with everyone on those little tables. Plus it makes it very hard to feed children and babies when the kids can't even reach the table. Another logistics problem is women wearing heels. I would hate to have nowhere to sit for 6-8 hours.

I can't even count the amount of times Juan told me that something was an overkill or it was silly, only to admit that I was right when he saw it all put together. So hang in there, dig your heels in and just tell him that this is how it's going to be haha. Men have a tough time seeing the big picture for weddings and what they think might be "practical", actually isn't when it comes to weddings. Sometimes, while they might not agree, you just have to tell them that you know what you're doing and there's a reason why you can't compromise on this one specific topic. He will come around and I'm sure.

PS: @@calgarybride2015 high chairs are the worst!! haha My feet get so swollen and numb after a while lol. Short girl problems I guess :P
