Gel Manicure Before The Wedding

Recommended Posts

I'm flying to Europe for my wedding on a Sunday morning and I'm getting married 6 days later (wedding is on a Saturday, in Tuscany). I've tried gel/shellac nails and I love them, but my nails grow fast...I've done a few trials to test it out, and 6-7 days later my nails look like they've grown a lot and there's a space between my cuticle and the gel, even with a pale color. I don't know what to do.

I've googled nail salons in Tuscany but since the area is so rural there is only one salon and the examples of nails on their website is a little scary and circa 1992. We have 2 days of activities planned pre-wedding, so it'll be tough for me to sneak out an get a regular manicure the day before the wedding anyway, even if I do end up finding one. Our venue is a rural, residential farmhouse, not a hotel or anything, so they don't have any places they can suggest. What would you do if you were me? I leave in 2 weeks! Any suggestions are appreciated...

Ahh that's a tough one.  Not sure if it'll go with the color you're planning but maybe get a light glitter nail polish to put over the gel polish so the growth isn't that noticable (saw it on pinterest).  Or maybe but the polish from the salon and have a friend do a touchup the night before.  I would also go with a lighter color so that it's not too noticable either.

My nails grow really fast too! I got a gel manicure on the Saturday before my Thursday wedding. I would have preferred to do a coral color, but I got a very light pink color so the outgrowth wasn't as noticeable - it looked pretty ridic by the time we got home from the trip but I didn't care at that point! I really didn't want to take the time away from our guests to get my nails done at the resort so it worked well for me. I think it still looked fine :)

I got a gel manicure on Sunday and my wedding wasn't until the following Wednesday, so almost a week and a half later. I got the same manicure in the picture (except this was 3 manicures earlier so my nails were way longer), and I thought they still looked fine on my wedding day, since the base color was so light - they were grown out a tiny bit, but you really couldn't tell. the glitter on the tips kept my nails REALLY strong and they didn't chip at all, since glitter is basically like superglue on nails. As long as you have/find a manicurist who is really good at gel (because that can make a BIG difference on how long they last), I think you'll be fine!

Here's how they looked on my wedding day, 9 days after I got them done:
