Dj's And Dancing At Grand Sunset Princess?

Recommended Posts

Hello.

I am thinking of having my wedding at Grand Sunset Princess.  I am having a hard time reaching the people at the current place I booked so now I am thinking of losing my deposit and doing it at our hotel.

We cannot afford to do the private beach party.  We are having about 20-26 guests, so not a huge party.  We will need to have our dinner and reception in an a la carte restaurant.

Does anyone know IF you can have a DJ in one of these locations and if there is room to dance?  I'd still like to have our first dance and have him dance with his mom.  I'm not sure if this is possible if we do not book the private beach area.  Or if we can bring in a little sound system and play songs?

Or even which a la carte restaurant to choose.

I have reached out to the hotel, but they usually take a while.  I'm just looking for some advice.

Thanks!

Hi @Sarahop81   Oh no, before you walk away from your deposit try to see if you can reach anyone.  Do you know anyone who speaks Spanish?  That might help out a little.  I speak Spanish - so if you want to send me what you want to write them in English I can translate it and see if you get a faster response.

As for the GSP - I am going to say that I don't think they allow for that...I could totally be wrong, but I don't think they accommodate for DJs or dance floors at the a la carte restaurants.    ;(

I agree with @@veryvalentine, I'd exhaust all resources before losing my deposit. Although I guess it also depends on how close your wedding is as you might not have a lot of time.

I haven't been to your hotel, but at least at ours, they won't allow our own music to play at the restaurants. We wanted to have a slideshow during a semi-private dinner we're having, but they won't allow us to. It doesn't hurt to ask though.

The resort doesn't have any private reception areas that you can use? Usually they do, and a wedding if 20-25 is not super small for a DW, I've seen smaller ones. You might have to pay extra, but if your budget allows it, it might be worth it :)

Another idea is to check out other outside venues. There's a few beach clubs that some of the ladies here have gotten married at and they all said great thing about them.

Hi @sarahop81  Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I agree with the other ladies. Try and exhaust all of your options before walking away from your deposit. Have you tried buying an international phone card and calling the resort if it's one that doesn't have an 800 number? Sometimes a phone call can sort everything out. I know it's frustrating when they take so long to reply. All of the ladies here go through it or have gone through it. Generally weddings don't become the high priority until just a couple of months before simply because of the volume of weddings they deal with.

Having said that I would absolutely keep after them and tell them you're considering going elsewhere. Sometimes that will get someone's attention. From everything I've read over the years here, I don't ever remember any bride being able to have dancing and a DJ in an a la carte restaurant. Other venues within the resort yes, but not the a la cartes. Unless you've rented out the whole restaurant, they need to consider the other diners that will be using it.

I'm sorry this is proving difficult for you. Planning can be stressful enough without having added stress. I went through a very similar situation and we've now gone to an outside venue but I argued back and forth with the resort and made a couple of phone calls before I walked away and it was still uncomfortable letting go of my deposit.

Good luck! @@veryvalentine has made a lovely offer to you so definitely keep us updated on how you get on.
