Yycbride2016 Grand Sirenis Planning Thread February 2016

Recommended Posts

@@yycbride2016 so sorry to hear about your job but that you were able to find another quickly. Are you in oil and gas?

I hope your dress is safe and sound. I will bet it is and this is more a communication issue. Keep us posted. The shoes are gorgeous :)

Sometimes it's tough but it's great you decided to have some help with the AHR!!!

@@TaraMarie33

Our budget was tight so we didn't even consider videography. Thankfully our friend used his go-pro to video tape the ceremony and some of the reception.Just an option if it's not in the budget.

I just had the white table cloths. Only paid for the chair sashes so I'm no help sorry. I'm sure once your on site you can view them and make your final choice then

We did cheaper favors. We did maracas (which were a huge hit). I got them from Amols for $1.65/pair. Each person got one. Cost us under $50. I also did fans for the chairs which cost around $45 after savings (michaels coupons)

The OOT gifts (tumblers with oh shit kits) is what cost the most ($500 range)

So that said I think if you wanted you could get some sort of a favor very cost effectively. Some do message in a bottles and you can get the bottles super cheap at dollarama etc.

Oh Hun, I'm so sorry to hear about your job loss but I'm super happy to hear you were able to find a new one so quickly! I can imagine that would be hectic so completely understandable.

You are extremely fortunate to have two sets of supportive parents. That's really helpful that they're helping you okay and plan your AHR, especially now that it's bigger than you guys anticipated. It sound like it will be a blast!

In terms of photographer, good call on going with Lancelotti, especially once you read the other one's contract. I can't believe It states you don't own the rights to your own photos, and even to print them, so weird. 4 hours should suffice, especially with a videographer. Unfortunately we didn't have room in our budget to have a videographer. Had the exchange rate been better, maybe it could gave worked out but unfortunately no luck

And those shoes are fabulous, great find! I hope you'll get it on time for the wedding dress fitting. Which I KNOW will work out. I agree with @@calgarybride2015 that it's all just miscommunication and you'll get your dress this Saturday. Post pics if you can.

P.S. I think you, @ and I all have dress fittings this Saturday!

@@yycbride2016 So sorry to hear about the loss of your job, must of been so scary with the wedding coming up.  But really happy it's worked out for you and you were able to find another one so quickly!

Fab shoes!  And I'm sure they will go great with your dress which will 100% not be sold on eBay like your fiancé said lol.  Leave it to guys to always make a situation like that better...  Can't wait to see!

Update:

I forgot to mention yesterday that my bridesmaid that I've been waiting for to book her trip finally booked last week! I was so stressed because she told me there was no availability and then when she called my TA there was room so she is booked in finally and I can rest easy!

Got the call where I can pick up my dress so I'm so happy now! I can't wait to see it tomorrow! Hopefully it fits!!!

@@TaraMarie33 yikes! I hope things start calming down for you so you can relax and enjoy the process more. That's what I'm hoping for after this dress fitting! I'd saying having too many guests is better than not enough! That just means so many people love you guys so much and can't wait to celebrate with you! As for the videographer, I didn't even consider it till my parents asked if we were getting it done. When we said no because of the budget they told me we had no choice but to book it and that they were laying, no questions! Haha. I think I'm going to really appreciate having the video to be honest. It will be nice to look back on and give copies to family and friends! My video was only $450usd. That's 2 hours of coverage. I didn't even think about table overlays or napkins or anything. I'm not in communication with the coordinator yet. But I bought my own chair sashes (way cheaper) and I bought real table runners. We also took wedding favors out of our budget. We are giving the wedding party OOT bags, all the guest a little welcome package with brochure, door hanger, custom postcards. And all the guests will get bubbles from the ceremony and an escort card message in a bottle. I think that was more than enough and it didn't cost too much.

@@calgarybride2015 I am in Oil & Gas so that's why. But surprisingly I got hired back into oil and gas so I'm happy. It's a 1 year mat leave contract so I kind of hope the person doesn't want to come back haha

I just got an address where to get the dress so I'll keep you all posted!

@@Wafflesmom thanks! I've been laid off 3 times in 3.5 years. I have the worst luck! This was the quickest turn around I've had which is shocking considering the marker in Calgary right now! Now I can hopefully relax a bit and plan this wedding! We are so thankful for our parents. They are so amazing with everything. Yeah I'm glad I went with Lancelotti he seems more experienced than the other person. He also seems so nice so far! I've been pinning ideas on Pinterest to send to him! And my shoes just arrived so I'm good to go for Saturday! Hopefully they aren't too tall!

@ yup have to stay positive when things get rough. It's never easy but I just have to be thankful my fiancé is so supportive and wanted nothing more than to take care of me while I was looking for a new Job! He's the bests That's good to know about Juan being flexible. I hope we can get all the events covered that I want. I'm sure it's going to be perfect! I'm getting more and more excited! That's awesome that you will only have to pay one vendor fee! That was what I was worried about too so I did it all through Lancelotti.

@@deecol thanks. It was definitely a panic moment thinking how Am I going to pay for a wedding without a job. Thankfully I was only out of work for 3 weeks! A mini vacation haha. I just got the call where I can pick up my dress tomorrow so that's a good sign that it's not on eBay hahaha

Very exciting update!!!!!

I got my dress!!!! It is so amazingly beautiful! The alterations are great. So what I had done:

  • Shortened (alot)
  • Train taken in so that it wasn't super long, its a mini train now
  • Whole dress taken in. It was a sample dress that is much larger than I am
  • Back panel where criss cross lace up is was half taken out to show more back.
  • Cleaned

I wish I had addressed the issue of the chest area. Do any of you have this issue and know if it can be fixed? I'm not a very chesty person and because the dress was originally much larger than I am the cup size is according to the dress size. I feel like there is so much empty space in there and looks weird. My MIL to be said she couldn't tell though.

Either way I love the dress, the veil matched perfectly and my shoes look amazing!

Yay, you got the dress!! You look ah-mazing,and your veil matches perfectly with your dress. You look stunning, your alterations are well done, especially the back corset part.

From the photo, I can't see the problem with the chest/cup size so I agree with your MIL. If you bend over, can you see the space? If you can't then I'd say don't worry about it, unless it bothers you a lot. If it does, let me know and I can ask my seamstress in two weeks when I see her again.

@@Wafflesmom thank you so much! I'm so in love with my dress and can't wait for Kyle to see it! I didn't bend over in it to see if it was loose. I'm going to ask my sister to come over and try it on with me and get her opinion on a few things. I'll try it then. I think I'll have to get her to practice a few times tying up my corset back! It even took the seamstress forever!

Thanks @@calgarybride2015! Maybe I'm over thinking the cups haha
