Jamaican Wedding Locations Suitable For Kids

Recommended Posts

Hi Brides,

I am new to this site and have just started planning my Jamaican wedding. I have contacted a few TA's and was advised to look at brochures (Thanks!) they seemed reluctant to really help  maybe because it's in 2017 and they don't have prices yet. :( Hopefully you Brides can give me some specifics so that I can start narrowing down my options as I am overwhelmed with all of the choices.

I am looking at getting married in April or May 2017 and I am from the Toronto area. My fiancé and I are have 5 children between us and in 2017 they will range between 9-19 (I think some resorts offer for the youngest 2 to stay and eat free, but I would have to get more info on that). Because there are so many of us, we are going to try to keep to a reasonably low budget, but we don't want to cheap out either. This could be the only vacation we all take together LOL...they grow up so fast. I also want something reasonable for guests, so any info on their costs and how long they stayed would also be helpful.

I think a larger resort would be best that way the kids don't get bored and they seem to have larger food options for our picky brood. Two resorts I really like are the Lady Hamilton Grand Palladium and the Rui Ocho Rios. So any feedback on those two specifically would be helpful including per person costs. I realize the prices will be more by the time we go.

I am also confused on the FREE but not free wedding packages?!?!

I've been reading some very detailed reviews on this sight and they are amazingly helpful, now if I can tell if I can afford to have an awesome wedding/family vacation/ honeymoon on the white sand beaches of Jamaica

TIA

Congrats and welcome to the site! Jamaica is a great place to have a wedding! The Jamaican people are wonderful! I was married there nearly 4 years ago at the Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica in Runaway Bay and we loved it. We ended up just being the two of us on our own but the resort does accommodate children. We went in October so it was much quieter. At the time our TA gave us a group rate of $1250 from Toronto but that was 4 years ago. I know the resort has changed a bit since we were there. We did look at Lady Hamilton but back then the price point was higher. I'm not sure what it is now. There is a TA that the canadian ladies here really seem to like. She's in Alberta, but seems to be very responsive by both email and by phone. You could try her if you like - Laurie Lee Rosser. Her email is [email protected] and her phone is 403.509.9337 or 1.866.509.9337  She's on the web at www.laurielee.ca  I would be quite upset with a TA that told me to go look at brochures even if you wedding is 2 years away. Yes definitely there isn't much you'll be able to do now - generally pricing comes in I think about a year in advance but still, telling you to look at brochures is sort of off putting for sure.

Good luck! Finding your resort is probably the biggest hurdle. Once that's done, other things start to fall into place.

Congrats! We are getting married at the Hilton Rose Hall and visited last month. We picked it because quite a few kids will be coming to the wedding and I can tell you they won't be disapointed! There's a huge lazy river with rafts, a teen room which is like an arcade and endless things for them to do throughout the day such as crafts and learning about the culture.

The ceremony options are great but in all honesty we are having an offsite reception due to pricing and I highly recommend Day O Plantation if you're open to going offsite. The food and pricing is great and all inclusive of flowers, decor and transportation. Jennifer, the owner, is amazing!

I will say picking the venue is the hardest decision. This resort is also about 15 minutes from the airport. We used the Jamaica Tours Shuttle service and they were great. Montego Bay is great because everyone's vacation can start right away versus taking a flight then being on a car or bus another 90 minutes. I know my guests would not have been too happy.

Good luck in your planning and please let me know if you have any questions about these venues.

Congratulations @@misskriss - we got married March 17th at The Royalton White Sands in Montego Bay, our travel agent Nat Miller of Miller Time Tours was awesome! When we started planning prices were not available either, but she kept checking and kept us posted and as soon as prices were available she got us deals. You can reach her at [email protected]

We also used a photographer who lives in Jamaica his name is Courtney Chen [email protected] - reasonable price. Excellent service. Awesome photos.
