Mona Lisa

Hello all,

I am anticipating about 80 guests for our wedding and I had a question about the buy out option for the Mona Lisa. Based on Mona Lisa's 2007 numbers, I expect the flat fee for reserving the entire restaurant to be about $12500 for next year (excluding tax and tip). Does this fee include all food and drink for the night? I would assume so, but there didn't seem to be any further information regarding this issue. How is food and drink determined when someone “buys out†the Mona Lisa?

Hey there, well I am going over the contract as we speak with Sunset Mona Lisa with my fiance. We're having our wedding there next October. The buy out fee has been changed to 13,500 as of recently. Basically, if you purchase that amount in food and beverages, they waive this charge. Now, you have to remember that they tack on taxes and service charges so the actual buy out will be more like 17,000. We've done that math..we'd have to have at about 80 guests to reach this amount in food and drinks. Yep, it's pricey but you sure can't beat that view! And the food is amazing.

Let me know if you have anymore questions and I'll try to help! :)

Hey, sorry I missed this post last week..

That is so cool that your fiance proposed at SML! What a perfect spot, tell him he did a good job wink.gif

Well when we went on our site visit we stayed at Dreams it it was a good 20 minutes away from Mona Lisa. We really wanted to be able to give our guests the all inclusive experience so we went with the Riu. It is right up the beach (not walkable) but only a few minute drive away. You can see it from the terrace at Mona Lisa.
My FI and I also stayed there last April with my family and its beautiful.

Hiya!

We were just married @ SML on the 10th (just returned from Cabo last Sunday)! I cannot even put into words how fantastic and amazing our wedding day was! I'm still on cloud 9 and want to be back and relive the day over and over again.

The buyout fee is inclusive of all food, bev, corkage fee, cake, etc. Tag on 10% tax and a separate line item for 17% svc charge (fortunately, they do not tax you on the service charge like most places back in the states do). Be sure to include in your contract that even though you're doing the buyout the restaurant will be exclusively yours, irregardless of what areas you use (we had to add this clause as an amendum to our contract 6 weeks prior to our wedding).

PLEASE feel free to send me a PM so that I can give you a download on SML. There is not a lot of info out there on this spot and had it not been for a former SML bride from this forum giving me a download on the ins and outs of having a wedding there, we would not have been married there.

I have to say, our guests are still talking about how spectacular the views were at SML. At Thanksgiving dinner, we showed our video and some of the proofs our photog sent home with us who, btw, was outstanding (Gilda Badillo), and we had the room in tears, again. I'll be sending out a full wedding review and will post pics as soon as I can.

BTW, with 80 guests you will exceed the buyout amount. We had 57 people and we just passed the $12.5k amount.

Good luck!

Lisa
