Bridesmaids Hair Questions

Recommended Posts

For those that did not require your bridesmaids to get hair professionally done but they could get done at salon or stylist did you pay for it or did the bridesmaids pay?

I have 5 bridesmaids. My resort charges $108 for hair. We can use resort credits and only pay the tax which is great. The only issue is the resort limits your total spa credit per room. My worry is I have a few girls only staying 3-4 nights, they only get $100-150 in credits to use at salon. If they want to do massage or other service then won't have enough credits to use towards hair.

I have no problem paying the 16% tax for each of them if they use credits. I just don't think I can pay full $108 x 5 if they don't use credits. I need to book appointments soon for this. How did you all go about this or asking your BM if they wanted to do their own hair or use credits at salon or pay full?

@@misbosox From what I understand, I don't think it's necessary to pay for your bridesmaid's hair if you give them the option to go to a salon or do it themselves.  That's what I'm doing with my five bridesmaids -  three of them are getting their hair styled and two are doing it themselves, and the three getting their hair done are paying themselves.  This is how it was at my brother's wedding as well and everyone was totally find with it, including me - I definitely didn't want or expect my sister-in-law to pay when I knew I had the option to do it myself. I definitely think it's only necessary to pay if you make it a requirement that they have to have it styled at a salon.

I didn't pay for my bridesmaids hair. They knew that I didn't mind whether they do it themselves or at the spa and I just gave them the price list so they knew the charge depending on what they decided. In the end they all chose to have their hair and makeup done at the spa and they each paid for their own. I've been in another wedding where I was left to choose myself and the bride didn't cover the charges. From what I've seen (I asked around lol) most people I know paid that themselves so no one was upset by this as it seems to be the norm.....around here anyways :). I'd say just give them their options and go from there. But I agree with the above comment that if you require them to use the spa you may want to help with the payment for same. Otherwise I say giving them the option and leaving the fee with them is ok. Good luck

I had only one BM so I went ahead and paid for her hair. She didn't want her make up done so it wasn't expensive. I also gave her the option to do her hair however she liked.

Since you have 5 BMs, I just tell them and provide options on how they want their hair and make up done. Hopefully from there, they know they will have to pay.

I think it is very generous to pay for it if you can, but I've always had to pay for my hair as a bridesmaid - even in one wedding where the bride did REQUIRE us to get our hair done (and I had super, duper short hair so it was a waste of money for me) and even as MOH in my sister's destination wedding. So I think if you don't pay for it, that is completely fine as well.

I definitely want to pay for my girls hair and makeup because they are paying to come to my wedding. I have 5 (maybe 6!) bridesmaids so that is going to add up very quickly. I like what @ did by buying other important things for the girls and giving them the option of choosing whether they get their hair and makeup done. Tough decision because none of us are "good" at hair or makeup.

Thanks for all the advice ladies.  I think everything will work out.  I have one bridesmaid that is good at doing hair so she wanted to do her own.  she doesn't like others doing her hair :)

All my other bridesmaids that are staying the full week want to use their credits so I'm going to pay their taxes for them.  I have one bridesmaid that is only going for 3 days only so won't have many credits.  So, with that and mostly because she was the one who took charge of my bachelorette party I'm going to pay for her hair in full as a gift for the party.
