My husband and I civilly got married at city hall and because we are Catholic we are looking to get married in a church as well.

Anyone know any destinations/resorts that have a church near or in them?

The grand sirenis riviera maya has a location for catholic weddings. Not sure I can use the word church.

Hi Leslie,

There are a number of resorts with Catholic chapels on site or very near by.

Up in the Hotel Zone the Gran Caribe has a great all glass chapel that looks out over the water.. just beautiful.

If you are ok with an adults only property El Dorado Royale has a nice chapel on site.

Moon Palace has a very large Chapel as does the Grand Palladium.

If you dont mind using a Chapel that is just off site, there is a very nice one with lots of character on 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen and I have had couples stay Playacar Palace before and use the chapel,.. it is just a walk of a block or two.

There is a Catholic church in the hotel district in Cancun called 'Parroquia de Cristo Resucitado'. Try giving them a call and inquire id it is possible to do a religious marriage, already having done the civil. Let us know how it goes.  :)

@@leslieortizluis Our priest told us that you can't get married in a catholic church after you are already married. You can do a vow renewal but not the sacrament of marriage.  :(

I think this is true, my priest explained it to us during our marriage prep process by asking us if we were married to anyone else OR each other. I think you can have your marriage "covalidated" in the church though, which makes your previous marriage officially recognized in the church and would let you have a some type of ceremony, but not an official "marriage" ceremony.  But you could still have a vow renewal celebration and view it as your wedding, and that's probably all you're worried about anyway! That process operates more on a case-by-case basis and how your priest interprets your situation, so I'd just make sure the priest wherever you decide to have your wedding is clear on the circumstances so you don't run into any bumps once you're there.
