Hello,

I heard there was a reception cut-off time of 11pm at many resorts. I understand this we would have to pay to extend, and am willing to, but I heard some resorts are strict on this policy even if you pay ... This is pretty important to me.

Which resorts did you not have an issue with this at? Ideally we would like to go to at least 1am.

Could you extend at Barcelo Maya Palace? Riu? Now? Dreams?

Thanks!

I got married at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya and if you have the private palapa you can have your reception until 6am. The hotel was beautiful, the food was good and the service was 5*. the wedding packages offered all the basics at decent price points and the extras were not a price grab! We took the free package and upgraded the locations and items we wanted :) I couldn't have imagined marrying anywhere else and the palapa was phenomenal for a reception. Just my 2 cents. We are all Bias here about our resorts :) good luck.

Your wedding sounds amazing, calgarybride2015, and we've also found the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya to be really picturesque!!!

You can see what we mean at this Grand Sirenis Wedding Album.....with a couple of excerpts here:

Our reception has to end at 10 pm! (Iberostar) We considered extending it to 11pm, but it was going to cost us about $1,000 to do so, which was hard to justify for an hour. We will head to the onsite disco after our official reception ends to keep up the dancing. My sister had a destination wedding in Mexico where it was the same - reception ended at 10 and we moved to the disco - and it was great! We didn't even really notice the other people in the disco because we were having so much fun.

For us it is an extra $10 per person for an extra hour of the bar for the reception, which is SO hard to justify at an all-inclusive. We're already paying for it for 4 hours, which is crazy enough :)

You can go past 11 at Palace as long as it's in a ballroom.

When we stayed at Riu Palace riviera maya a wedding was being held in the buffet/steak restaurant and I'm pretty sure it went past 11. We were in bed and the music was still playing
